Configure DateInput auto-tab behavior
I would like to be able to configure the auto-tab behavior so that the DateInput only tabs when user type '/' (i.e. disable smart auto-tabbing).

month/day/year

Expected UX:  3/3/2022
Example: https://demos.telerik.com/kendo-ui/dateinput/index

Current UX: 332022

Hi Lance,

Thank you for sharing your honest opinion.

We evaluated the demand for the request once again, and we will try to prioritize it sooner. You could see the update in the request about the approximate time we will try to deliver it.

Regards,

I don't understand how the current DateInput ended up with a theory that the / character is like a 'tab' press, its simply not a special key so it shouldn't be treated as a magic jumping bean for skipping month/day etc.

This must be the only control in the whole world that works weirdly like this, and I don't want to push it on my users.  Just make a config option so that it can be changed not to jump around and it will work like most of the other date inputs

Can it be please made configurable so that the '/' character is smarter - i.e. it does not 'tab' as such but rather it types it as though you typed it -

so for M/d/YYYY if you type '4' and then '/' it does not assume you don't care what month it is at all and skip to the year, but rather it just swallows the / as though you were typing the / it just skipped over

So it just lets you type the slash if you want to but it in NO WAY assumes you want slash to ever act as a field skipping tab character
