Hi, after Updating to 2.26 I have a lot of exceptions - especially the follwing components:

Drawer, PopUp (Window)

does anyone know more about this?

Indeed, we decided to have an opened item in our feedback portal to provide transperency for our customers. Even though we depend on Microsoft release, the errors will be verified and the item will be marked with completed once everything works as expected.

Hello Matthias and Satish,

I understand your frustration and I agree that we could communicate this better.

We were left in a situation where we should choose between two bugs

  1. Irritating but harmless exception messages all over our components
  2. Memory leak which can cause OutOfMemory exceptions.

We chose to fix the memory leak and leave the exceptions because our research showed that:

  • the errors are irritating and indeed pollutes the console output;
  • JavaScript code execution continues successfully;
  • the error does not cause any other problems and applications work as expected;

Is this your observation as well? If yes, you can ignore the error and wait for the .NET 6 release by Microsoft, which will fix the bug. If you are aware of any other side effects, please describe them in detail and we will research them and try to resolve the issue with priority.

I can understand that this is a dilemma, but .net 6 is not coming until November. That being said, it would be quite appropriate before the update to communicate that. For example, since the drawer is a major part of the application, sometimes over 100 errors a minute are generated. This cannot be the solution.

Hi Matthias,

This seems to be a result of the fix we made in the last release. 

The fix was targeting a memory leak in the components. 

Unfortunately, in blazor 5.0 we cannot fix both memory leaks and exceptions. 

They both are coming from interacting with IJsRuntime and we can only choose which one we want to fix.

Here in the aspnetcore GitHub issue, you can see where the problem comes from: https://github.com/dotnet/aspnetcore/issues/33535#issuecomment-861484714 

The issue should be fixed automatically when you upgrade to .net 6.0. 

That being said, we should mark this thread as Declined, because it is not something that we can control.
