Changing the grid columns collection shows the new columns with the initial widths
The widths of the columns become the widths of the initially rendered column at the same index, instead of the widths declared in the respective column markup.

A workaround would be using a column chooser approach where Widths are defined in the column descriptor model. A small sample is attached at the end of this post. If you don't need the user to choose the columns, you could otherwise populate the desired collection over which the loop is made.
