Thanks for confirming that the Video played is important to you. Such information matters to us.

The age of a feature request is not the most important criterion for prioritization. Customer demand (votes) is more important, combined with our overall product strategy.

The Video player component currently has 26 votes. The last one is from this week, but all previous ones are from 2019 - 2023. This doesn't imply a very strong current interest. You can also compare the following rankings to see where the Video Player stands, compared to other components:

• Most popular new component requests (all statuses)
• Most popular new component requests (only the ones that are still not implemented yet)

Sorting the Feedback Portal by "Most Liked" will give you a good idea of the next things that will come to the suite. It is not 100% accurate because this is not the only information source we use when planning, but it is close enough.

This means that the media player is not high on our priority list and it is not likely to be added soon. There are more important components that are harder to get right, and that's where we need to focus. For media player - an <iframe> for youtube is easy to put in place (they have documentation and can even generate it for you), and a <video> tag handles the majority of other cases easily. You can also use our jQuery based media player if you like, as explained here.
