Pdf Viewer - load multiple files on load

Hi,

Can I request that the Pdf Viewer:

- Load multiple pdf files on open. Maybe via an array of file names.

     - We use a different viewer due to this capability. For Human Resource files you need the ability to load numerous files into one viewer to show a complete
document. The current one file option doesn't work for us.

- Display thumbnails of the loaded pages.
      - Thumbnail onclick to move to a specific page.

Regards,
Graham O'Riley

Hi Graham,

Thank you for sharing more information about your specific scenario.

We evaluated the request with the team and can confirm that it is valid. With this in mind, I'm updating its status to "Unplanned." Please note, however, that this feature addresses a bit of a niche scenario. Its implementation will strongly depend on gaining significant interest from the community. We encourage you to monitor its progress on the feedback portal, as community interest will play a significant role in determining its prioritization.

Your cooperation is highly valuable. Thank you for your understanding.

Hi

1) Load multiple pdf files.

The reason we need the ability to load multiple pdf files is because a Human Resource file may contain a 1000 pages. You'd be waiting a long time for them to merge, probably a timeout.

This is why we use a javascript viewer: https://atalasoft-viewer-demo.azurewebsites.net/. This allows you to pass an array of filenames. The Atalasoft middleware will then request the files as and when scrolled into view.

The main reason we store (30 million+ single page and multi page files is that data is store adhoc: Human Resource, Invoices, etc. Placing all of these files into one for viewing would be impractical.

Hi Graham,

I will separate my answers into sections that address both requests.

Load multiple files on load Feature Request

To better understand your needs, could you please provide more details on the viewer you are currently using? Additionally, do you expect the printing and saving functionalities to perform actions on all files as if they are one document, or should they remain separate? The status of the feature request to load multiple PDF files in the PDF Viewer has been switched to "Need More Info".

Alternative approach

In the meantime, I recommend considering merging your PDF files before loading them into the PDF Viewer. You can use the Telerik Document Processing Library to merge PDF files. This approach may align with your requirement to view multiple files as a single document. Here is a useful resource to guide you through the process: Merge two document pages into a new single page

If you need further assistance with that approach, please submit a ticket for Telerik Document Processing, which is a separate product and supported by another team.

Thumbnail Feature Request

Regarding your second requirement, we accept the thumbnail feature request, as we believe it is a valid enhancement. This feature will allow displaying thumbnails of the loaded pages and navigating to specific pages via thumbnail clicks.

With that being said, I've created a new feature request on your behalf to separate from the first feature request: Display thumbnails of the loaded pages and navigate to specific pages via thumbnail click. As a creator of the item, you are automatically subscribed to it.

Please let me know if you have further questions or additional details to provide.
