Grid-like features for the MultiColumnComboBox
I was wondering if the component can filter rows by searching in more than one column.

Hello everyone,

This item hasn't received new votes in the last year and the request itself is too broad to be actionable in a specific way.

That's why we produced a KB article that shows how to implement a custom component that is similar to a MultiColumnComboBox and uses an actual Grid, which allows using all available Grid features.

I am closing this feature request as complete. If there is customer demand for a specific Grid feature in the built-in MultiColumnComboBox, please open a separate feature request that focuses on that feature.

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for the confirmation.

In this case, let's proceed in the following way:

  • Currently there is another feature request about MultiColumnComboBox filtering in multiple fields via the textbox.
  • The MultiColumnComboBox does not use a Grid component internally. This makes it more light-weight and performant. As a result, Grid features cannot be easily enabled, unless we implement them once again in a different context. A better option is to allow developers to render a Grid via some template or by exposing the popup container. Then, enable any Grid features that you need.

For the time being, I am leaving this feature request with a "Need More Info" status. Everyone who needs Grid-like features (for example, column resizing, sorting, etc.), please list here which specific features are important for you. We might implement some of them in the MultiColumnComboBox and leave all the others for the "template" scenario with a full-blown standalone Grid.
