Today button only sets StartValue in Range Selection Mode of the Calendar and in DateRangePicker

When a calendar is used in range mode the Today button only sets the start date meaning the user has to then click the end date or its value is unknown.

The end date should be set to something, for me id prefer it to set both the start and end to the current date.

You can see this behaviour on the demo pages by just clicking the today button on the range demo. https://demos.telerik.com/blazor-ui/calendar/selection

Hello Martin,

Indeed, in the Range Selection Mode of the Calendar as well as in the DateRangePicker component, the Today button only sets the StartValue.

I researched what is the behavior of these components regarding the Today button in some of our other suites and I observed the following:

  • If no dates are selected first click of the Today button sets the StartValue, second click of the Today button sets the EndValue

  • If the StartValue has already been selected and the current date is after it, the Today button sets the EndValue

  • If the StartValue has already been selected and the current date is before it, the Today button sets both the StartValue and EndValue

You can also test it yourself in the Angular version for example - Angular DateRange.

I logged an internal issue for fixing this behavior in the Calendar and DateRangePicker components in Telerik UI for Blazor. In addition, I also tweaked the title of this thread to be a bit more specific and to also cover the DateRangePicker.

I have added your vote to increase its popularity as we are prioritizing the bug fixes based on the community interest and demand. As you are the creator of the post, you are subscribed and will receive email notifications when its status changes.

Last but not least, I'd like to thank you for noticing and reporting this behavior! As a small gesture of gratitude I have rewarded your account with some Telerik points.
