Hi, I would like to use the conversion tool to convert a WinForms project to Telerik controls. Unfortunately the menu item is not showing up for me. See attached screenshot.
The project to be converted does include a reference to System.Windows.Forms. I am using VS2019 with the latest Telerik Winforms release.
Thanks,
-Lou
Hello,
I wanted to follow up with some great news. We've recently released a powerful new WinForms Converter that leverages AI to help automate migration from standard Microsoft WinForms controls to Telerik UI for WinForms.
The converter analyzes your project, converts supported controls and designer files, adds the required Telerik packages, and helps streamline the migration process. It also supports both .NET Framework and modern .NET versions, helping teams modernize existing WinForms applications.
You can learn more about it here: Telerik UI for WinForms Converter
For a list of currently supported Microsoft WinForms controls and their Telerik equivalents, please see the control mapping table: Supported Control Type Mappings
Please note that full access to the WinForms Converter requires an active Telerik UI for WinForms Subscription License. If you do not currently have a subscription license, you can still evaluate the converter using a trial license.
If you decide to give it a try, we'd love to hear your feedback.

Hello Ron,
We have a separate feature request for exposing the Telerik WinForms converter as a standalone application. This way we will avoid future breaking changes in Visual Studio.
You can track its progress, subscribe for status changes and add your comments on the following link - feedback item.

Hi,
Is there any news on this missing convertor? I need to update an old larger project and do not want to do this all manually.
Thank you,
Ronald
Hello Lou,
This is indeed a valid request. After discussing it with the team we have decided to log a feature request. We will do our best to introduce Code Converter functionality for Visual Studio 2019 in our next major release - R1 2020.
I have logged it in our feedback portal by making this thread public. You can track its progress, subscribe for status changes and add your comments on the following link - feedback item.
I have also updated your Telerik points.

Dimitar

Hi Dimitar, thanks for the info. Do you have any estimate for when VS 2019 will support the converter?

Hello Lou,
WinForms Converter is not available for Visual Studio 2019 yet because of breaking changes in Roslyn.
