speechtotextbutton not wokring / stops immediately

Hello,

 it seems that something is missing to get it working in "SpeecToTextButton". 

how to reproduce:

  • tested in different browser(edge,vivaldi,ff), even in private mode https://www.telerik.com/blazor-ui/documentation/components/speechtotextbutton/integration
  • load the page

 

  1. click start recording
  2. allow microphone access for the first time
  3. nothing recorded(it stays max at 2secs in recording state), goto 1

it flickers for a while(at system taskbar, there is also indication of recording) but nothing is "recorded/transcribed".

Is there any additional setup at clientside?

Hello Michal,

Thank you for the provided information.

The encountered behavior is expected, due to the limitations and browser compatibilities of the Web Speech API. More specifically, the Firefox and Vivaldi browsers are not compatible with it -  https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/56498/does-vivaldi-support-web-speech-api.

In terms of the Edge browser, the SpeechToTextButton has a known limitation inherited from the Web Speech API that requires additional configuration of the lang attribute to ensure the component works as expected. Check our limitation section in our documentation for more information - https://www.telerik.com/blazor-ui/documentation/components/speechtotextbutton/overview#limitations. In addition, we have already updated our demos and documentation examples to ensure they are working as expected in the Edge browser. These changes should be live soon.

With the above information in mind, I'm changing the status of the item to "Declined".
