I would like to have support for @mentions in your editor, similar to GitHub, Facebook etc.

You can use mentions in the Editor with the linked approach.

I'm surprise this is still Unplanned - this is a basic feature of so many RTE's. I know ProseMirror is an option, but that seems like a lot of work - and really their aren't many if any good examples laying around that I have found for how it even works with Telerik UI for Blazor.
