Need Color Emoji/Smileys in RichTextEditor

Hi Team,

Greetings!

We recently bought your Tool for one our Windows Forms Project work in VS2019 (4.7.2 framework).

There is a need for us to have Emojis inside the editable Textbox / RichTextEditor in Color.

For example, if we paste Emojis inside the text editor, it should retain the color of the Emoji as it is.

Currently if we paste the Emoji inside the text editor, its only pasting the Emoji but losing it's color.

How to retain the color of the Emoji inside the editable Textbox / RichTextEditor ? Is there any property or so we need to set?

The users of our application can paste any kind of Emoji (like inbuilt Windows10 Operating System Emojis etc.,) and there is no limitation for this.

Kindly advice.

with regards,

Hello Krish,

The element in question is not supported and I am afraid that I cannot provide you with an approach for using it in the current state of the control. As there is no other control which could be used to work with emojis, I am afraid that there isn't much I can suggest at this point. Please, make sure you have upvoted the request and you are also following it so we can update you if its status changes.

Hi Tanya,

Thanks for the comment. Can you provide some samples on how to use the symEx element to incorporate with RadRichTextEditor? Or

Do Rad have any other alternative controls that can support Color Emojis in WinForm .NET application?

With regards,

Krish TS

Hello Krish,

The emojis in RadRichTextEditor are represented as symbols defined in different fonts. To preserve emojis with their colors, a specific symEx element should be used which is defined in the Extensions of MS Word to the Office Open XML specification. This element, however, is currently not supported in RadRichTextEditor and I have logged a request for it on your behalf. You can track its progress, subscribe for status changes and add your comments on the following link - feedback item.

Please, make sure to cast your vote for its implementation and subscribe so you can receive updates about status changes on the task.

Don't hesitate to write back to us if any other questions arise.
