RadGridView: Introduce merge cells/rows functionality
Enable the ability to MERGE seperate rows (different records), like found in ITunes "Songs" mode where is shows the artwork (then artist,release undernearth) in a custom class, then the related song rows to the right.

Your competitor Dev Express has it already in place.

Hello FEAP,

HTML and ColumnGroupsViewDefinition have their own cell merging logic. Currently, Merge Cells functionality only supports TableViewDefinition.

Thanks for this. Does this function still work if the Grid has ViewDefinition? I tried it, but once the Grid has view definition the the cells are not merging.

Hi Jason,

we had some requests in the past for such a functionality, however, we are still not convinced that such is applicable to our implementation of RadGridView with the numerous functionalities its supports. In fact, if you see the grid controls out there with support for cell merging, you will notice that this functionality comes with a huge list of limitations.

Still, I would like to thank you for your input and I will keep this item open, where we can gather further suggestions what such functionality must have.
