The workaround is to create the excel export yourself. You can use the bind function to attach your custom function to export the excel file. In the custom function, you can create the excel book as per your desired requirement.

Tsvetina, We are still facing this bug on excel export. Can you please point us to the Kendo version in which this was fixed?
