This is more of a feature request...

If I want to refresh a datasource every 60 seconds, be it a grid, a dropdown, etc., I have to add a snippet of code something like this:

var interval = 60000;

         setInterval(function()

         {
             $("#my-grid").data("kendoGrid").dataSource.read();
         }, interval);

Yes, I realize this is trivial, but it would be nice if you could add an AutoRefresh function directly to the DataSource API that handled all of this under the covers.  Example:

           .DataSource(dataSource => dataSource
               .WebApi()
               .PageSize(20)
               .Model(model =>
               {
                   model.Id(m => m.StoreId);
               })
               .Read(read => read.Url(Url.HttpRouteUrl("GetData", null)).Data("additionalData"))
               .AutoRefresh(60) // seconds
               .Events(e => e.Error("onError"))
           )

At present, popup notifications stay in one place on the screen and if you resize the browser while there is a visible notification, it will no longer be in the expected corner of the viewport (e.g., the bottom right) - they may be somewhere around the middle or outside of the visible viewport.

The following article shows how you can reposition them with your own by calculating the new position rules: https://docs.telerik.com/kendo-ui/controls/layout/notification/how-to/move-on-window-resize.

An alternative that may be simpler is to use your own container with fixed positioning and use inline notifications in it, instead of popup notifications. With this this, you can define such a fixed position on your div that satisfies the layout and the notifications will add content to it. An example is available in the following article: https://docs.telerik.com/kendo-ui/controls/layout/notification/how-to/move-on-notification-hide.

Ideally, this feature will be built-in behind a property that will have the notification attach a handler to window.resize and will reposition the popupts automatically, maybe with a configurable delay (that is, how often after resizing the code should run). Perhaps a property like "resizeRepositionTimeout: number" can be used for both - if unset, it will default to undefined and no repositioning will occur, if set to a number, it will be used to throttle the resize event.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Go to https://demos.telerik.com/kendo-ui/editor/index using IE11

2. Delete a sentence in the editor by repeatedly pressing the backspace key.

Result:

The characters are deleted slowly with noticeable lag and jank.

Investigation

The following profile shows the FPS drop when you repeatedly press backspace.

I believe the call to refreshTools is expensive (for IE) and it is invoked on every keyup for backspace.

The "change" event on DropDownList is being triggered when the value change of the widget is via API and not triggered by user interaction.

Steps to reproduce:

https://dojo.telerik.com/oKeBEZUN

  1. Manually select a value for category (like Category 4); a console item should be written for user change
  2. Click the "change doc to empty" button which clears the category
  3. Click the "change doc to values" button which programmatically sets the category

Expected: a log item is NOT added because the change was programmatic and the log item is triggered on "change"
Actual: a log item is added even though the value change was programmatic

The change detection inside the select widget is faulty in that it seems to be effected by focus/blur state.

This issue was found after upgrading kendo UI.  I believe the issue was introduced in 2018.1.117

Hello,

The Kendo UI Window features in many widgets as an editable popup and form container - like the Kendo UI Grid and TreeList, the Kendo UI Diagram and it would be great to be able to keep using it and open it elsewhere dynamically as right now this takes no effect.:

window.setOptions({appendTo:"#someOtherElement"});

Thank you for voting!

If I read https://docs.telerik.com/kendo-ui/AngularJS/introduction I find “Setting Handlers through k-on Attribute” which suggests that I should be able to write `k-on-` prior to any of the events documented at https://docs.telerik.com/kendo-ui/api/javascript/ui/upload#events and automatically run under `$apply()` or `$applyAsync()`. However, when I try that, my event handler doesn’t even run at all.

I think this is an oversight.

I can reproduce this in https://dojo.telerik.com/ocESevUS which is generated from the link at https://demos.telerik.com/kendo-ui/upload/angular which uses AngularJS v1.7.2 and Kendo UI v2018.3.1017.

When you place a <label> inside the template of a panelbar, and click on that label, the select event fires twice instead of the expected once.

Note: works as expected on collapsible items, only items without children exhibit the problem.

Reproduction of the problem
reproducible: https://dojo.telerik.com/OXazIKUq

Expected/desired behavior
the event keeps firing only once as if you clicked on any place in the item outside of the label.

Potential workaround: https://dojo.telerik.com/@bratanov/otIVuNag

When using AngularJS binding for dropdownlist options in the latest version of Kendo (2018.3.1017), the option labels are not dynamically bound to the scope/controller.  I changed one of the options to have the label {{::foo}} and set the field foo to "BAR" when initializing the scope.  When I run this code with the latest version, the literal text "{{::foo}}" is displayed for the first item of the drop down.  When I use an older version of Kendo (2018.2.516), the text "BAR" is displayed for that item.  This is a regression bug that is causing an error in our product.

Here is a testcase that illustrates the problem.  To toggle between the working and broken versions, change the CDN values.

Dear Support Team,

Please try the following scenario. Create a weekly recurring event for the 4rth of April that has no end.
Go at the next week (9/4 - 13/4) and move the event (11/4) 1 hour forward. At the confirmation popup please select 'Edit the series'.
Go back to the previous week (2/4 - 6/4). The event of 4/4 has disappeared!!

The specific dates are used as an example. Feel free to use any date your want.

Thank you in advance,
Thomas.

Hi,

We are using Fusion software and the grid ARIA attributes of rows are "aria-describedby". This results in the invalid/wrong action tips for Fusion users. If we change it to "aria-labelledby" it works well.

Currently, we have to override the private method _tmpl so we can edit the hardcoded attribute. We need to be able to change this part of the source:

if (navigatable) {
    rowTemplate += " aria-describedby='" + column.headerAttributes.id + "'";
}

It would be great if we can configure them from the grid settings.

$("#grid").kendoGrid({
 ariaAttribute: "aria-describedby"
});

Then the _tmpl function will change like this:

if (navigatable) {
  rowTemplate += (that.ariaAttribute ? that.ariaAttribute + "='" : " aria-describedby='") + column.headerAttributes.id + "'";
}

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

When editing a workbook with the Spreadsheet component, if a user switches from a worksheet to another, then moves the scrollbars, when switching back, although the active cell is adequately recovered, the scrollbars are not (the user experience is that they do not react to worksheet switching).

Is this behavior planned to be changed? Is there a workaround?

Best

Hi,

Bring up an RTL kendo Grid which has resizable true and filter mode is "row".

then try to resize the grid from filter-row of grid. we will see an internal js error.

you can copy and paste this code in a dojo sample and resize grid from the point is shown in the attached picture.

    <div class="k-rtl"><div id="grid"></div></div>
    <script>
        $("#grid").kendoGrid({
          columns: [
              { field: "name" },
              { field: "age" }
          ],
          filterable: {
              mode: "menu, row"
          },
          resizable: true,
          dataSource: {
           data: [
            { id: 1, name: "Jane Doe", age: 30 },
            { id: 2, name: "John Doe", age: 33 }
           ],
           schema:{
            model: {
             id: "id",
             fields: {
               age: { type: "number"}
             }
            }
           }
          }
      });
    </script>

The controller is returning the HtmlEncoded contents of a text file that the server reads in from the local operating system on the server, and I would like to display that information in a window or editor such that there is a left hand 'gutter' displaying line numbers and the file content has vertical and horizontal scroll bars.  The line numbers would scroll-y with the content, but should be fixed with respect to scroll-x.

A good example would be

 - the code panel in the Sources tab in Chrome developer tools, or
 - http://jspro.brothercake.com/code-examples/principle5.html, or
 - http://alan.blog-city.com/jquerylinedtextarea.htm (not my first choice though)

This dojo demonstrates a close solution I made using Window.

https://dojo.telerik.com/@RichardAD/IJuLeyOv

The 'gutter' is not locked (or fixed) though.  After many iterations I though of the Editor component and how it might already have line numbers built into it, and I could use it in a read-only manner to display the text file contents with line-numbers.

I used QRCode from Kendo in an enterprise application at my company to build a business card sharing application. My heads keep bombarding me "why not make it beautiful like this...".

Here is the "like this" reference: https://www.qrcode-monkey.com/

Are you guys planning to add basic features like ?

I use the below template to render nodes (so that root nodes do not have a checkbox), but when I click checkAll button the root node(s) content are also displayed as selected

You should provide an event to custom handle this behavior and ignore nodes unselectable

 .Checkboxes(setting => setting
                                                .CheckChildren(true)
                                                .Template("# if (item.level() > 0) { #" +
                                                            "<input type='checkbox' #= item.checked ? 'checked' : '' #>" +
                                                            "# item.text = item.SymptomName #" +
                                                            "#}else{#" +
                                                                "# item.text = item.LocationName #" +
                                                            "#}#"
                                                )
                                )

Keep up the awesome work !

Setting dimensions in pivot grid with fields of data type "number" or "date" the filter menu opens with conditions and input component as if the fields are of "string" type,  how do I configure the filter menu to act according it's data type.

In case of date/number data type, in the Include fields filter the selected  items are not persistent - when a user selects some of the values and reenters the include fields the selected values are not saved.

It would be nice to have more control over the item templates. ie, be allowed to more easily do stuff like:

  • Make the item non-selectable, or only selectable by a child element.
  • Make the item drag-and-droppable only via a grip element.
  • Make the item template display as a block, not inline.

Hello Support Team,

with jQuery 3.3.1 the resizable option set to true is not working with the configuration in the example below. When removing other options like "toolbar" or "scrollable" it works. :D

See the following example: https://dojo.telerik.com/IkigawaX

With jQuery 1.x everything works fine.

Regards

Alexander
