Hi everyone,

The Aurelia Kendo UI Bridge took off quite great. We have been collaborating with the authors so that any of the issues they face in the integration is addressed promptly. If you have not done so already, make sure that you check https://github.com/aurelia-ui-toolkits/aurelia-kendoui-bridge

Thanks!

As a long time Telerik customer, I am very exited about the work that you have done to bridge Aurelia and Kendo UI together. It looks very promising. I truly hope that you guys will continue to strengthen and enhance your support for Aurelia. I am currently prototyping a major mission critical application in Aurelia. Having Kendo UI available to me on this project is a huge plus. Please keep up the good work. Thanks.

I'm still prototyping a quite big SPA project with Angular2 and Aurelia using KENDO UI Professional components, I can state that Aurelia is much more straight forward and our developer team have no doubt about the framework to be choosen. Unfortunately there are much less examples in Aurelia than Angular 2 due to its popularity I guess.

Our two cents.

I've been evaluating both Angular 2 and Aurelia for future use. Aurelia looks much cleaner and well thought our than Angular 2. Frankly, angular 2 is a mess. I hope you do plan to support Kendo on Aurelia.

Thanks

We are currently using KendoUI Pro and planning to build all our new projects with Aurelia. Please, make you best effort to support aurelia ui toolkit team to provide range of examples and best practices for developers to manage transition time before Telerik's official support.

Thanks for the comment, Josh.

There's a discussion about the web components standard implementation in Kendo UI in the comments of this blog post (http://www.telerik.com/blogs/what-to-expect-in-2016-for-kendo-ui-with-angular-2-and-more) which you may find helpful.

I think the important feature here is to implement Kendo against the current Web Component standard. Aurelia/Angular2 will support web components so add this support is the common bridge Telerik can use to pitch the business development guys for support here ;-)

BTW the tea leaves to me seem very much blowing toward Aurelia.....

Kenshin,

Telerik needs to give serious consideration to helping the community bridge effort.

As a Telerik customer who is working to move our apps off Silverlight, we think waiting a year for official support is to long of time. All our next projects will be using Aurelia. If isn't officially supported by Telerik, we will have to look for controls from other companies who support Aurelia. The browser manufacturers are working hard to kill Silverlight. We don't have a year to wait.

About Aurelia from Rob E.....

•Aurelia is a medium size framework, smaller than many others and with no external dependencies.

•Aurelia is as fast or faster than all other frameworks.

•Aurelia is more standards compliant than most other frameworks. (Only Polymer is at the same level.)

•Aurelia is the most unobstrusive framework today. There is nothing that even comes close to comparing.

•Aurelia integrates very well with other libraries. Other frameworks like Angular and React have a harder time with this.

•Aurelia has the best support for separated presentation patterns (MVC, MVVM, MVP) of any modern framework.

•Aurelia is better at dynamic, data-driven UI construction than anything else today.

•It is the only framework written in 100% ES 2015/2016 with no dependencies except polyfills. (At least that we are aware of.)

•Aurelia has no unnecessary DOM abstractions. So, it can be faster than and consume less memory than other frameworks.

•Aurelia has some of the best support for Web Components. (2nd to Polymer but when our new webcomponents plugin is released in a few weeks, we will be on equal ground with them.)

•Aurelia is the only framework built with a modern, modular architecture.

We surely take into account your comments and monitor the progress and adoption of the Aurelia framework, folks.

@Nikolaj, thanks for sharing these resources. I spoke with our Product Manager, Stefan Rahnev, and he will be more than happy to discuss your Aurelia <-> Kendo UI bridge implementation in further detail. He'll get in touch with you via email in the coming days.

I hope Telerik is reading the tea leaves correctly because Aurelia is going to be a big deal....probably just as big as Angular.

Would love to see Kendo UI support for Aurelia as well.

Thanks,

In order to see what we did so far, please check this Aurelia application that acts as a catalog of KendoUI controls that now exists as pure Aurelia components.

We just announced the alpha release of the Aurelia KendoUI bridge: http://blog.durandal.io/2016/01/28/aurelia-and-kendo-ui/ . Note the last sentence in that blog post:

"As I watched the project progress, I also became convinced of something else: Aurelia might well be the very best way to build Kendo UI applications today"

Rob Eisenberg

As a member of the Aurelia UI Toolkits team who created this tool and a long time enthusiastic user of KendoUI, I could not me more proud to see Rob's assessment.

Kenshin - can we talk more about our Aurelia KendoUI bridge?

Folks, what I can additionally share with you at this point is:
We're going to invest some work in 2016 in extending our Kendo UI framework infrastructure to work without jQuery dependency. This will open the door to easier integrations with third-party frameworks such as Aurelia. Stay tuned for updates in the second half of 2016 and 2017.

Just to be clear no Aurelia support will mean dropping Kendo. I think many people feel the same.

Agree with much of the sentiment here. We love Kendo but the underlying framework is much more important to us and Aurelia is now almost certainly going to be our direction for future projects. A full and rich support for Aurelia "out of the box" would be simply outstanding for both these awesome products. Far better than a wrapper project which will always be one or two steps behind. Support for Angular but not Aurelia?? Come on guys, please. What a combo it will be!

I asked several widget vendors about their plans for aurelia about 6 monhts ago just to they could start to prepare for the framework many will start to use.

The Aurelia folks are working pretty intensely on Telerik web component support. Check out their plugin and their gitter chat log: https://github.com/aurelia-ui-toolkits/aurelia-kendoui-plugin

Guys, we encourage third party contributions for Aurelia support, hence if you are interested and are going to dedicate some time in this direction, feel free to hit us up with a pull request via our public Kendo UI Core repository:

Aurelia is the future.. I'm planning to move from Angular 1.x to Aurelia so if you do not support it, I'm afraid but will leave KENDOUI. . first stabile version is planner for next few months.. so i suggestivi to reconsider your decision

I wanted to add my voice to the discussion as well. We've been using Kendo UI since early 2012. Our current implementation uses knockout-kendo because when we went with Kendo the native MVVM implementation wasn't fully baked. We've gotten by with the knockout-kendo shim but sometimes it's been a little painful.

I'm very interested in Aurelia and will likely be moving that direction in the future. The traction Aurelia has is impressive for being in beta, it would be awesome to see a demo of what's possible and what's not using Kendo UI and Aurelia.

Pretty sure we will be going with Aurelia in the future. Guess the question is will we still be using Kendo.

Agree with other comments; planning on using Aurelia rather than Angular2. Just spent much time learning the basics of both and Aurelia feels much cleaner and easier to use. I have a lot invested in KendoUI and would love official Aurelia integration.

We are evaluating different js frameworks for the next version of our ECM system. We would like to use aureliajs with KendoUI.
Please reconsider your decision.

Thanks fort the comment and for the reference about the Aurelia plugin for Kendo UI.

We'll evaluate the possibility of an integration with Aurelia for future releases based on the community interest indicated in this thread on our feedback portal.

I'm very surprised the kendo team can work on angular2 support but not aureliajs. Aurelia is a much better framework and my choice for the next version of my enterprise product. I've always supported Telerik kendoui and have invested a lot in kendoui. Now, I'm, stuck because kendoui don't have plans for integration with aurelia. Here's an example of how kendoui controls can be used from aurelia: https://github.com/aurelia-ui-toolkits/aurelia-kendoui-plugin

But, expecting your customers to wrap each and every UI widget for use in Aurelia is too much. Please consider providing integration with Aurelia.

Aurelia is unopinionated about jQuery. You can use jQuery and Kendo in Aurelia, but you won't get Aurelia's templating and data binding. You have to manage the lifecycle of the Kendo widgets yourself. Here is an example:

https://github.com/technicalmedia/aurelia-kendo-spike2

I'd love to see native integration capabilities soon.

Someone on the following Aurelia github issue thread claims that once Kendo supports web components that it will be "fairly trivial to use them in aurelia":

They do support Web Components, but no jQuery..
