Hi Kramer,

Encryption Algorithm 5 differs from Algorithm 4 and we have a separate feature request logged for providing support for it: PdfProcessing: Support Encryption Algorithm 5 with AES 256. You can cast your vote for the implementation as well as subscribe to the task by clicking the Follow button so you can be notified when its status changes.

Martin

Encryption method with code 5 seems to be 256-bit AES encryption according to the PDF 2.0 spec. Is there support for this one as well?

Is the Encryption Algorithm 4 (RC4/AES-128) also available for Telerik UI for WPF?

Hi guys,

RadPdfViewer will support documents encrypted with Encryption Algorithm 4 (RC4/AES-128) with our next version Telerik UI for WinForms R1 2018 scheduled for the middle of January. If you observe any issues related to encryption algorithm 5, it will be greatly appreciated to send us a ticket with all information and problematic pdf document, so we can investigate the case.

Best regards,
WinForms team

Hello Darryl,

As you may see on page 117 at the PDF format specification link below, the encryption algorithm values vary from zero to four. Value of 5 does not seem to be valid PDF file according to this specification. Could you open a support ticket and send us the sample file so that we may further investigate the concrete case?

Here is the mentioned link to the specification:
