Viusal Studio Extension Error

Below is the error.  I had removed all the references and was trying to add them back through the configure project extension vs 2019 and vs 2022 threw the same error. 

 

An error occurred while running the wizard.

Error executing custom action Telerik.WinControls.VSX.Actions.UpdateReferencesAction: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80004005): This reference cannot be removed from the project because it is always referenced by the compiler.

Hello Monique,

This error occurs when the Upgrade Wizard is used to update NuGet package references. The wizard removes the old references and then replaces them with the newer ones. It, however, does not support NuGet package references. This is a feature that will be released in one of the upcoming releases.

If that is the case, I recommend using Tools > NuGet Package Manager > Manage NuGet Packages for Solution... to update your references. Here is an article that can be useful.

If you think the problem is not the one described here, please share the content of your *.csproj file to take a look.
