Allow User to Maintain Previous Versions in Control Panel
Our development process includes several applications that use the UI for WinForms. As such, we will download the latest release and evaluate all of our applications against it prior to updating all of our developers and our build servers. However, using the Control Panel does not provide any option for maintaining the previous install, so whichever developers are doing the evaluation have to manually reinstall the prior version, or manually install the new version, in order to be able to roll back if we decide not to adopt the latest release.

Please add an option in the control panel to maintain the previous version when installing updates.

Good to know that we can install prior builds with the control panel. I would still request that the "Keep Previous" option be respected, regardless of the sequence of preset vs. update package selection.

I am glad to hear that the issue is resolved. In addition I just want to note that not all versions are allowed to remain parallel during new installation. You can find more about that in the Major and Minor releases page:

http://www.telerik.com/help/winforms/installation-deployment-and-distribution-vsx-major-and-minor-releases.html

You can also check these installation dependencies in All Versions view in the Control Panel (take a look at the attached screenshots).

Yes, upon further testing, if I set the "Keep Previous Parallel Versions" option and "Save & Close" *before* I select any packages to upgrade, then it will keep the option for multiple packages. However, if I select the packages to upgrade first and then change the "Keep Previous Parallel Versions" setting to maintain them, the previous packages are removed.

Christopher, thank you for your feedback. The "KEEP PREVIOUS PARALLEL VERSIONS" option takes an effect for actions that you choose to execute after you click "SAVE & CLOSE". So if you choose "UPGRADE" and then you set the option and save it the option will not be applied. Could you please make sure if that is not the case?

Further investigation shows that the option appears to work if I am only updating a single product (WinForms or Reporting), but when trying to do both, the option is ignored.

It does have that option, but it doesn't seem to work. Please see the attached video.

The Telerik Control Panel maintains parallel installations of different product versions. The default behavior however is to remove the old versions during installation. To enable the parallel installations you have to choose "KEEP PREVIOUS PARALLEL VERSIONS" in the Control Panel options dialog. Please take a look at the attachment.
