Hello Brian,
From the provided information it is not quite clear what may be causing the issue. It seems like the Kendo styles are somehow mixing with the custom page style and that is causing the issue. In such case we recommend trying to isolate the issue into a sample runnable project with dummy data where we can observe the issue locally and be more helpful with a possible solution.

Hi Plamen
First of all, apologies for the delay in replying. I have been distracted with other matters and have only just been able to get around to trying your suggestions.
I've added in the exact library references as per the Dojo example, and not only does it not make any difference to my Tree View, but it also has the effect on another page of my app of creating a spurious frame as soon as I instantiate a Kendo Modal View. I attach a screen grab of it - with my original .css libraries, the white frame doesn't appear.

Hi,
One possible reason for this behavior is the lack of the Kendo styles on the page. You can refer to this dojo ewhere in the header of the page the styles are added correctly - https://dojo.telerik.com/@zdravkov/UKAFABAV.
