Dropdown tree positioning when page has scrollbars on Safari

Hi,

When using the dropdown tree on safari using the bootstrap themes when the page has scrollbars and clicking on the dropdown the page scrolls up, even though there is available space:

Please see this Dojo which replicates the issue:

https://runner.telerik.io/fullscreen/uwoBEKiT/2

Open the above URL in Safari, chick on the dropddown and the page scrolls up and the dropdown is no longer visible.

James Qu

Hello James,

I was finally able to reproduce the issue after updating the Safari version to 13.0.2. I have logged the item in our GitHub repository to be fixed. I also converted this thread to be visible in the Feedback Portal as a bug report. Unfortunately, I cannot provide you with a workaround at this point, so please follow the thread for further information when the bug will be resolved.

I am updating your Telerik Points as a token of gratitude.

Martin

Hello James,

Thank you for the video demonstrating the undesired behavior. However, in order to provide you with a workaround for it or report it as a bug, I need to be able to isolate it and reproduce it locally.

I am very sorry that it is taking so long to update our device and test again. I will update you as soon as we have more information on the matter. I will also look for an appropriate online testing tool, as this one requires company email to start trial.

Martin

Hi Martin,

Do you use any online testing tools?  I can replicate the issue using an online tool using a Safari 12.1 testbed with the dojo I sent you.

I'm using https://app.crossbrowsertesting.com and found the issue and its the first online testing tool i have tried.

Don't think this will be an OS issue as this testbed uses an older version of the OS than I am using.

Hello James,

Thank you for the provided information. While I was testing I covered the scenario with no space below the widget, so that it would appear above. But there was still no scrolling of the page.

We are currently updating our Mac device's OS to the latest version and I will test again. I will get back to you as soon as I have more details to share.

Thank you for your patience.

Martin

Hi Martin,

I'm using:

MacBook Air

MacOS Mojave version 10.14.6

Safari 13.0.2

Not sure what resolution your using but the page needs to have  vertical scrollbars.  When the position of the dropdown is near the bottom so that the tree needs to appear above it scrolls the page.  On subsequent clicks after the page has scrolled it doesn't.

You can replicate scrollbars by displaying the inspector toolbar at the bottom so that the dropdown is near the bottom on the page.

Regards

James

Hello James,

Thank you for the provided Dojo example.

Unfortunately I was unable to reproduce the issue. I tested the example in Safari on Mac 10.13 High Sierra. I was able to successfully open the DropDownTree, select/deselect items, and the page did not scroll up.

Could you please provide additional information about the OSX version and confirm the Safari 13.0.2 version? I will then be able to test and provide you with further assistance on the matter.

I am looking forward to your reply.

Martin
