Grid - Filter menu disappears quickly on macOS Chrome when navigatable: true and using trackpad with "Tap to click" enabled

Example: https://runner.telerik.io/fullscreen/yypoqSea

This example is based on the example from the docs with `navigatable: true` and enough data that the user needs to scroll in order to see the bottom row.

On Chrome on macOS, the filter menu cannot be used when `navigatable: true` and "Tap to click" is enabled in the macOS Trackpad settings. When clicking on the filter icon, the menu disappears very quickly (see screen recording). As a workaround, setting `navigatable` to false seems to resolve the problem. The same issue does not seem to occur on Safari, however, there is still odd behavior with the scrolling.

For some reason, screen size, resolution, and window settings impact the ability to reproduce the issue. The most reliable way for me to reproduce the issue was with Chrome in full screen on a 16-inch MacBook (13-inch works too) with the bookmarks bar showing and no external displays connected. Hiding the bookmarks bar or not using full screen seems to make it more difficult to reproduce.

Hello Rajiv,

Thank you very much for your patience.

We tested on multiple machines, but we are still not able to reproduce the issue on our side. Attached you will find a video demonstrating the behavior on our end. In the video, the macOS version is displayed. We tested on macOS 15.3.1 and macOS 15.3.2. The versions of Chrome that we tested are 134.0.6998.166 and 134.0.6998.89, but the issue is still not reproduced on our end using the provided Dojo.

As the example uses the 2024.4.1112 Kendo version, could you please test and let me know what the behavior is with the latest Kendo version 2025.1.227? Here is such a Dojo example: https://runner.telerik.io/fullscreen/tOrTbVKt.

Also, please let me know what the behavior is if you try to open the filter popup in our demos - https://demos.telerik.com/kendo-ui/grid/keyboard-navigation

Looking forward to your reply.

Regards,
Neli

Hi Rajiv,

Thank you for the follow-up.

My colleague with macOS Sequoia 15.3.1 is out of the office. Once he returns, I will investigate and get back to you.

Your patience is appreciated.

Hi Nikolay,

I apologize for the delay in replying. I was able to update my work computer to macOS Sequoia 15.3.1. I'm still able to reproduce the issue on the 16-inch MacBook Pro using Chrome 134.0.6998.89 and "Tap to click" enabled in the Trackpad settings. Chrome should also be in full screen with the bookmarks bar showing and no external displays (ideally, no other peripherals, including mice) connected.

Thanks,

Rajiv

Hi Nikolay,

Thanks for your reply, I'll double check this. The only difference I can see is that both computers I used for testing are still on macOS Sonoma (14.x). Because of program compatibility issues, my work has advised me to not update to macOS Sequoia at this time. However, I'll update my personal computer (the 13-inch one) and see if the issue still happens. What also helped me was creating a guest user on my personal computer so that I could isolate any other mouse, trackpad, or accessibility settings I may have changed - with the default settings, I don't believe the issue occurs.

Thanks,

Rajiv

Hi Rajiv,

I tested the described on macOS Sequoia 16-inch MacBook using trackpad with "Tap to click" enabled both on Chrome and Safari, however, I was unable to replicate the filter menu unexpected closure.

On Windows 11 and Safari v.132.0.6834.84 this is also not present.

Google Chrome (canary): 134.0.6998.0
