Add AutoSwitchParts property to DatePicker as passthrough to DateInput (similar to AutoCorrectParts). Should be simple.
This is a valuable interaction property on the DateInput component. I would like to set it on DatePicker similar to AutoCorrectParts. Currently I get at the DateInput object after the fact by accessing the data("kendoDatePicker")._dateInput.dateInputInstance "private variable". As an alternative (or in addition to), add a public (supported) property for getting at the dateinput object.

Hi Jim,

Thank you very much for sharing your feedback. I will forward it to the team.

The requests are constantly monitored by the team and depending on the demand they are added to the road map. Highly anticipated features (features that have gathered many votes) usually take precedence over less popular features that our community hasn't shown any substantial interest in yet.

We could not consider the current issue as a bug as this is not a behvaior or functionality that work unexpected.

In scenarios where a feature is crucial to a cutsomer but do not gather votes we offer our Feature Acceleration program provided from our Professional Services. It is a paid service and the rate depends on the feature complexity. Let me know if you are interested in such option.

Thank you for responding. Unfortunately, most requests from users probably are unplanned (unless they are bugs). No one else will request them until they stumble across the issue. That doesn't mean a majority of users wouldn't agree if they were presented with the question. I think part of your equation for where something sits on "the list" should include "how easy it is to accomplish". As mentioned, you already have a parameter (AutoCorrectParts) that is similar. I'm sure the actual development effort to do this would be negligible (I've looked at the code). That being said, I certainly realize there are other efforts involved in bringing a change to production.

Secondly, realize the alternative I mentioned is actually an extreme shortcoming in that component. There should be a public supported way of accessing the dateInput instance when applicable. Your tech support did not have one. Please put this on the "bug" list. Maybe it will garner more attention.

I have used Kendo UI for jQuery for many, many years. I love the product, but the dateInput component definitely has usability issues compared to other products. I'm not sure if it is a difference in expectations of U.S. consumers or what. But they should be addressed in my mind. Let me know if there is another avenue for that to be "seriously" considered and I will list them.

Hello,

I am changing the status of the item to Unplanned. We will monitor the community interest in such a feature and depending on the demand we will consider it for implementation in the future.
