Grid - Copy/Paste Includes Extra Lines for Mac

Bug report

When using the Selection and Export Grid Demo in Safari, and pasting the cells in Excel, there appears to be some extra empty lines below the paste.

Reproduction of the problem

  1. Open the demo URL in Safari browser.
  2. Select few cells and choose Copy option from the context menu.
  3. Open an Excel file and paste the copied items (extra empty lines are pasted at the end).

Expected/desired behavior

The pasted lines should not include any additional empty lines beneath the specific content.

Environment

  • Kendo UI version: 2022.2.802
  • jQuery version: All Supported
  • Browser: all

Hi, Rajpradeep,

I apologize if I did not express myself correctly. This is indeed a bug, however if I am understanding the reply correctly, on your side there are multiple empty rows pasted in excel, whereas from what I was able to see, there is just one empty line. What I am trying to figure out is if there's a difference between what we are both seeing.

Other than that, yes, this is indeed a bug and it is logged as such. We do not have an estimate for a fix as bugs are prioritized based on many different factors. You can track the following issue for updates:

Yes, an empty line is still added after the last selected row.

Also, I have clearly mentioned in my description that "When using the Selection and Export Grid Demo in Safari, and pasting the cells in Excel, there appears to be some extra empty lines below the paste."

I insist this as a bug rather than a new feature request. But still Kendo team wants to handle it as a feature, please reopen this feature request and get it addressed ASAP (as the ticket was created 2years back and there is still no progress on it).

Hi, Rajpradeep,

We double-checked the issue a second time and the behavior does seem to be still there, however what I am seeing is a bit different compared to the description.

I observed a single empty line being added after the last selected row. Could you please confirm if that is the case for you too?

Hi,

I have upgraded kendo to v2024.1.13 and still see the above issue in Safari.

Can you try steps provided above and confirm?

Hi, Raj,

I completely understand that this bug fix is of great importance to you. Generally speaking, fixes are prioritized based on several factors such as severity and how many people have encountered the problem.

We can't provide estimates for a fix, unless the bug has been assigned to one of the Developers. I'll let them know about the situation, however I cannot make any promises that the fix will be expedited.
