QR Code Scanner

Hi,

I think it make sense that Telerik will provide a built in tool to support QR Code scanning with the Kendo UI Mobile suites.

At the moment we need to use some 3rd parties JS libs for it and it will really help a lot if it will be part of the Kendo family and will support all type of OS/Devices.

Thanks,

ilan.

Hi Alex, thanks for the reply.

The built in QR readers, or any installed reader App for this matter, will require an API integration to connect to the Kendo UI - if at all possible, which will invlove a callback url's and other messy ways of getting the code to the Kendo js code.

On the other hand, the JS libs like InstaScan or https://nimiq.github.io/qr-scanner/demo/ allow an inline integration, which is a lot more flexible for Kendo developers.

So while we can use those open source libs, it is not like Telerik libs obviously... :)

I am looking forward to hear what the comunity will think about this.

Again, thank you for taking the time to reply.

Ilan.

Hello, Ilan,

All apple devices running iOS 11 have a built-in QR code reader and some Android devices are following suit.

I am not sure if this feature request falls inside the Kendo UI widget's scope as it would require access to the camera of the mobile phone and this perhaps has more to do with general mobile development skills but we will leave the item open and look at how popular it gets.

Thank you for taking the time to suggest it.

Kind Regards,
