Demos, Documentation and Forum Search Need Update
HI Telerik,

We are coming over from the AJAX suite and have to say that the demos and documentation are horrible at best.

One of the greatest strength we have seen with Telerik has been your demos of almost every variation and sample most people could come by with news ones added quite often. If there wasn't a demo you were almost sure to find it in the Documentation.

The last place to look before contacting Telerik is the FORUMS but this is impossible with the way KendoUI forums use the search. It search ALL forums not just the current sub forum and pulls things back like Client Log-in pages etc.. The forum search needs to work more like the Main Telerik Forum site otherwise its impossible to use the forum unless you want to go through each forum page by page

The keno UI demos are geared towards just the client side. There is very little show how to do things with the server wrapper for MVC. It would also be nice to show the service code as well for things like the data source read, create, update and destroy events for widgets like the grid etc..

Here is a sample. http://demos.kendoui.com/web/grid/editing-custom.html
The demos shows the client side HTML version and if you choose the RAZOR syntax it is a completely different code than what is in the demo above.

The lack of documentation makes it very frustrating to use the KendoUI. New features are great but if there isn't adequate documentation to support how to implement then many features will go unused.

I hope you guys will take a serious look at the KendoUI Demo and documentation and consider making it an immediate priority to address.

I evaluated Kendo UI, Wijmo and Ignite UI 12 months ago now, and I felt that Kendo UI had the most widgets and integration with MVVM etc. What wasn't apparent, was the complete lack of ACCEPTABLE documentation. I have spent countless number of hours just trying to figure things out with Kendo, mainly due to their poor resources.

I haven't stopped reviewing Ignite UI and Wijmo, and with regret, i have now switched to Ignite UI. Widgets comparison aside, i find their documentation, how-to's and API EXTREMELY well constructed AND OBVIOUSLY thought through.

I will still continue to use Kendo UI on my current projects, but going forward, I will use Ignite UI. i am fed up with trying to find resources that is like finding a needle in a hay stack.

This is not a plug for the other vendor in any way, i hope the team from Kendo get to read this.

This is an ongoing effort that we're paying active attention to. Marking this as complete so as to free up your votes.

What is needed is a way to easily search all columns all data on the client or on the server for an entity or entities associated with the grid. A demo or a built in addition would be great. Search the main entity or key entity. Also an In page like the built in browser search but one the developer can surface for the page.

Agree, I too was shocked at the state of KendoUI docs, examples, forum when coming from years of working with Telerik's main website for Asp.Net controls.

People have complained about this for almost a year and I have seen little or no progress on these issues. Come on guys seriously if you spend a couple of months on docs and demos your support staff could take the rest of the year off!! All those fiddles your support staff have created to answer questions in the forums would be great to make them part of the demo's page. Its very frustrating spending hours and hours digging through docs, debugger, and forums to do common tasks. Please please update the docs and examples to Telerik's normal standards!!! Now not later!

If you're not going to let use search a specific forum, at least let us have a way to do another search from the search results. Right now when you're at the search results, you have to use the back button (browser) to do another search...kind of rude.

Could the documentation be made downloadable so you can continue working without an Internet connection?

Take down or fix/update the Youtube videos - I wasted half a day trying to follow them and they either require Visual Studio or Rails to work, Some have dependencies that are not provided and cannot work. They are over a year old and are out of date. Why are they still up there?
Either no source provided or the source is a Visual Studio project. I crack my knuckles in anticipation of falling in love with Kendo - and get thwarted each time.

Most people that I introduce to KendoUI never realize that you can use the drop down list to select cshtml versions. I think the MVC demo pages are so much better than KendoUI demos.

I totally agree with all points mentioned. It's bad enough to have the sparse documentation that you have (some properties aren't even mentioned period...like the "values" property of the grid column), but what just makes it worse is the horrible forum search. The forum search needs to be able to search just a particular forum!

I've come over from years of paying Telerik for ASP.Net AJAX software, and the horrible state of this documentation and search is a major shock to me. It feels like you tried hard to have a trendy looking site, that you just let the whole idea of it being functional go straight down the tubes.

Can we also have a place to report errors in the documentation?

Write useful demos, and have a full api list reference with examples for each one.

Telerik MVC Extensions have better documentation than Kendo UI
