Display Aggregate Information on collapsed Grids
Grids correctly display aggregate information in a groupFooterTemplate, but it only shows this information when the section of the group-by is visible (not collapsed).

Is there a way to display the aggregate information in a template that shows when that section is collapsed?

It is not a technical question. You made a mistake, showing aggregate information in the footer has nothing to do with the Groupable() functionality. I can have fixed group without groupable functionaly activated.

If I want the footer to still display on collapse I need to set it Groupable?
What if I do not want the user to change grouped columns?

This was not shipped in Q3 2014 btw - you are not able to display aggregate column values within the group header row when grouped data is either collapsed or expanded

You should be able to configure the visibility of the group footers via the groupable.showFooter property from the public API (http://docs.telerik.com/kendo-ui/api/javascript/ui/grid#configuration-groupable.showFooter). 

This will work with the MVC wrapper of the grid for the Q3 RTM release, due in about a week.

I am running the Q3 2014 beta and it does not appear to be fixed in there. The online demo for ASP.NET MVC Q3 2014 grid (aggregates) shows it is still an issue.

Can you confirm this will be fixed?

Def. need this feature (yesterday) - please see our support ticket (ID: 848025). It is of high value to be able to display aggregate column values within the group header row when grouped data is either collapsed or expanded.

Since the groups collapse showing the header, it is imperative to have summary data in the header showing for more than just the grouped column.

This would be a useful bit of functionality for us in our applications.  Our clients do not want collapsible groups without the ability to see totals in the group header.

This is a critical piece of functionality.  Basically, grouping and aggregation in its current form makes for a cute demo, but not a useful business tool.  The tools we build need to be able to look at data from multiple dimensions in order to be useful to our clients.

Please add this to your high priority list.

It would also be nice if you could add a label to the group footer to know which group the footer is for.  It can be a little hard to read if there more than two or three grouped columns.

I'll put my totals in the footer for now but with many records it would be nice if it showed when collapsed. Right in the header would be even better! Thanks.

Yes, it would be very good to have an option to keep both the group header and the group footer  visible when the group detail is collapsed, so that data aggregated client-side could be displayed in the footer.  There could be a GroupCollapse that has current behavior a GroupDetailCollapse that collapses only the detail rows.

Agreed. I would like this enhancement to group header template. Currently I want the header to show other fields value but kendo UI doesn't support it.

Right now the groupHeaderTemplate is pretty useless without this. Typically you don't want to get sums for the current field (I can't think of any case where you'd actually want to do this!). you want to display aggregates from other fields.
