I confess that I got surprised after checking Component One "Studio for ASP.NET Wijmo"! They already have super fast controls based on jQuery UI with support for ThemeRoller, and supporting client and server side operations. Why did you decide to go for the client side approach?! Also, the controls work really fast and have nice widgets like differente types of galleries. I hope Telerik decides to go this way with Kendo UI.
Hi Hugo, all,
In the last few years, all new components in the UI for ASP.NET AJAX suite have been implemented as wrappers around the fast and lightweight widgets from the Kendo UI for jQuery suite. In addition, the new skins and features also accommodate modern web standards and practices.
A longer discussion on the same topic can be found in this forum thread:

Kendo UI for jQuery is platform-agnostic client-side library, which is enriched with server-side features if a developer chooses to use any of the server-side wrappers for ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET Core, JSP or PHP.
In other words, a developer may choose any of our web products, depending on the platform and preference for client/server-side features:

Kendo UI for jQuery and UI for ASP.NET AJAX will remain separate products, but we believe our product portfolio has evolved in the direction, which this feature request implied. That's why I am marking it as complete.

Dimo
