Orientation is basic out of the box functionality for a tab control.  Come on guys....

I had been using Telerik controls for web forms, and can not we add can not something be added where we can set the orientation as  : Orientation: 'VerticalLeft' may be ?

I can see substantial possibilities for vertical tabs through Kendo UI. This would be a fantastic addition to an already well-made framework.

Not fond of the idea for hovering tab, I agree Jaap Mosselman.
I like the way Dojo does their tabstrip orientation

Don't know if I like the idea of activate tab on hover. Should be optional. And when you design modern websites/apps with "touch" in mind, then "hovering" does not exist anymore, so hovering should perhaps never be mentioned in the complete Kendo stack.

Vertical tabs (and also placing them at the bottom in certain cases) will be really great addition. I am adding a new reporting area to the application I'm building and having Vertical tabs would've been great. Something similar to Telerik MVC Menu with Vertical Orientation but with the ability to load content on demand would be great.

I think with "vertical" tabs is meant to position them at the left side? Extend this to the top, left, bottom, right positions. 
Another configuration option would be the display the text vertically (and size the tabs accordingly) but that does not have a high priority for me
