Reny, contact our support team at telerik.com to get assistance with grid printing when frozen columns are enabled.
Posted on:03 Sep 2014 08:04
Now freeze columns are fine, but how to print the complete content now. The approach given for print in Kendo documentation is not working for grids that have frozen columns. as its seems to get overlapped.
Posted on:18 Aug 2014 15:46
Pinning columns to the right is not supported by the grid widget, they can only be fixed on the left-side of its table.
Posted on:15 Aug 2014 15:10
How can I get the frozen columns aligned to the right?
Posted on:28 Jul 2014 09:27
Feel free to report this via our standard support channels (forums or support system on telerik.com). Thus it'll be reviewed and answered by my colleagues.
Posted on:26 Jul 2014 19:45
Using this if data in the unfrozen parts wraps in the cell - then the alignment of the frozen items is broken....
this is unfortunate because it makes this feature unusable.
Posted on:14 Jul 2014 12:56
This is not supported presently, Mark. See this forum thread for more info:
Posted on:09 Jul 2014 19:08
Any trick in using this for a grid who's datasource is an existing table? I just can't seem to get it to work!
Posted on:09 Jun 2014 12:21
What makes the kendo grid to split into 2 part if atleast 1 column is locked. One part is a div with locked columns and other part a grid with non- locked columns. I am able to freeze but effect is appearing like this. Even for Kendo sample code when tried in our solution. Please send a work sample and a download of it
Posted on:21 Mar 2014 20:47
So in order to use Frozen columns, at least one column has to be frozen at all times? That doesn't seem so nice...
Posted on:20 Mar 2014 17:26
This feature is delivered with the Q1 2014 release, see this demo:
Posted on:31 Jan 2014 15:21
Sorting - yes, it should not affect the frozen column functionality.
Nested grids/hierarchy - not sure how you expect frozen columns to work in this scenario, as their concept is to operate in a flat grid. Can you point us to examples for web grids with frozen columns support and how they handle hierarchy?
Posted on:29 Jan 2014 01:47
Will pinning be available with sorting and nested child grids at the same time?
Posted on:24 Jan 2014 15:32
Public Q1 2014 Beta will most likely be available in the very end of February. You can play with it and share your feedback as soon as it is out.
Posted on:18 Jan 2014 04:32
Good news for many business's who believed kendo is everything
Posted on:17 Jan 2014 20:52
Since so many of us are awaiting this critical feature... and since it is dependent on the "Q1 2014 Release" - please tell.... what is the date a first version will be released?
Pretty sure this community needs to know so we can get resources scheduled.
Posted on:17 Jan 2014 20:36
Great News , your Team is more promising now !!!
Posted on:17 Jan 2014 16:50
Q1 2014 is slated for mid March, Olga.
Posted on:13 Jan 2014 22:07
freeze the some columns and header of kendo-Grid in a scrollable mode
Posted on:09 Jan 2014 02:15
Posted on:06 Jan 2014 05:33
We are heavily relying on this feature. Please provide this feature.
Posted on:02 Jan 2014 22:21
When is Q1 2014 release?
Posted on:28 Nov 2013 04:29
Can you put this on the public roadmap please? I think it would cool things down and you'd have a lot of beta testers :D
Posted on:27 Nov 2013 17:38
We need this feature as well. Is there any type of work around to implement this i.e. column and row freezing?
Posted on:15 Oct 2013 08:11
Hi, Is there any possible Work-Around For same, meanwhile it is released in Q1,2k14
Posted on:10 Oct 2013 10:08
This is good news. This is a must have feature for us too!
Posted on:25 Sep 2013 03:48
Wow , great news!
Thanks kendo team .

Great news! Thanks Brandon!
Posted on:24 Sep 2013 19:16
Should be a requirement for out of the box functionality for the kendo grid. Still no movement on this eh? Bit concerning given the cost of the product and the level of interest in this functionality
Posted on:23 Sep 2013 23:18
Yes. This is a show stopper for our company. Need to feature.
Posted on:23 Sep 2013 23:13
By the Way - This is THE top voted suggestion at 1007, according to your own data. Nearest other is at 660 votes.
As product developers, we should all be so lucky as to get such CLEAR direction on where we should be going.
How come Kendo is not going there?
Posted on:23 Sep 2013 22:57
How could we possibly implement a solution for our users with any kind of display format which does not freeze that all-important left-most column ??????
Posted on:18 Sep 2013 13:21
We need this ASAP.
Posted on:16 Sep 2013 10:22
We need this ASAP.
Posted on:14 Sep 2013 01:29
We also need this ASAP.
Posted on:21 Aug 2013 05:32
We need this functionality.
btw, thanks a lot for KendoUI
Posted on:21 Aug 2013 01:43
http://www.jqwidgets.com/ has it ...and with Knockout you got everything Kendo has and with Freeze columns and Header Spanning multiple columns
Posted on:14 Aug 2013 08:07
Kendo Admin - A year ago you were ”considering this for implementation in a future release".
Any news on this top requested item?
Posted on:14 Aug 2013 07:14
This Very Critcal for us !!!
Other wise we may end up in Multiple Types of Grids .
Posted on:07 Aug 2013 19:27
We need this @ Barclays too !
Posted on:28 Jul 2013 04:52
we really need this,
Posted on:23 Jul 2013 14:32
The Column freezing functionality of web Grid is very important to us.
It would be great to have this functionality in-built with Kendo Grid.
Posted on:19 Jul 2013 08:12
2013 Q2 does not have the frozen column feature. When do you plan to add that feature to the grid. See the importance of this feature -> more than 850 votes!
Posted on:05 Jul 2013 07:26
Any update towards whether this would be available in the Q3 release?
Posted on:20 Jun 2013 23:05
Yes Yes..please do this. Coffee up and get it done!
Posted on:19 Jun 2013 23:36
Our users have requested this feature.
Posted on:14 Jun 2013 21:17
You should do this. I am shocked that you don't. Sencha ext js does.
Posted on:14 Jun 2013 13:39
Frozen Column is very essential in all the web application using a grid. Please do implement in the kendo grid.
Posted on:05 Jun 2013 18:14
Frozen column, pleaseeee. Would be really helpfull.
Posted on:05 Jun 2013 18:02
We're looking to implement this as well. I've been able to achieve something similar to this using CSS, but it's not really ideal, because each grid has to be modified manually. It would be great to be able to do this on the fly with Kendo.
Posted on:31 May 2013 16:07
Our users have come to expect a grid in data driven app to have interactions similar to Excel. In grids with a large number of columns it becomes important to "freeze" key columns so users can retain the context for the rows of data they are viewing. I know grids aren't the move glamorous widget in the world but they are necessary and implementing this feature would make developers' lives much easier and users much happier.
Posted on:23 May 2013 08:27
We will also need this feature in our project. It is very important to us.
Posted on:22 May 2013 22:04
I agree with all of the other comments here.. Please add this to the grid feature set, it would really make large tables way more manageable. Thanks!
Posted on:17 May 2013 13:22
Hi, This feature is supposed to be out of the box, can you guys please make it available in next release or provide any quick patch for this. It will be really helpful as we need this feature in our application very badly, all our business users are excel based and they need it more than anything else.
Posted on:17 May 2013 06:53
Guys seriously this now top of the requested features - now would be the time to do something about it. Is it that difficult ???
Posted on:13 May 2013 19:59
Yes, considering the cost of these components, one would think this to be an out of the box feature of the product. Am I to understand that you are still "considering this for implementation in a future release?"
Posted on:09 May 2013 06:47
this is a very important for us. this is a last feature for perfect grid.
Posted on:06 May 2013 08:34
Any news on this one? It is time for Q2 roadmap and there isn't anything about this feature.
625 votes is high, so this one should be already done. Many many grids have this feature. I would like to use KendoUI almost everywhere in my project, but right now I must use another grid because of this feature. Look at datatables, wijmo.
Could You please put this feature on roadmap?
Posted on:23 Apr 2013 22:58
Considering the amazing functionality available in the grid control, I find it amazing, if not baffling, that frozen columns aren't supported out-of-the-box. I would gladly exchange 2-3 other rarely used features in the grid just to have this. It is extremely, *extremely* frustrating that this isn't implemented.
I spent 2 weeks evaluating this grid and actually spent the money on it only to discover that something *this basic* isn't implemented, and not only that, but the best answer we can get is "maybe perhaps sometimes in the far, far future, if we feel like it, thanks!"
Our application deals with large data sets with many columns and horizontal scrolling is now basically unusable, which makes a kendo grid unusable when columns can't fit on the screen.
At this point I'm going to recommend my team switch to Wijmo. They might not have master-detail pages implemented, but they do have frozen columns.
It just baffles me this isn't implemented. It's like watching a demo for an amazing automobile that gets 100 mpg and costs $10,000 but one on which the designers decided not to put doors on or a windshield.
Basics first, guys, basics first.
Posted on:16 Apr 2013 08:39
for an excel-like application to be considered as "user friendly", the frozen columns is a must feature. please prioritize this functionality in the roadmap. Thanks in advance!
Posted on:10 Apr 2013 07:57
Hi guys, it would be nice if you could implement this feature. I think PrimeFaces team implemented this feature, maybe this might be a starting point
Posted on:09 Apr 2013 06:49
This is a very important feature for us

This would be very important for us too!
Posted on:15 Mar 2013 16:44
Please, add this.
Posted on:11 Mar 2013 17:11
As others have previously mentioned, this would be a great feature to have.
Posted on:01 Mar 2013 18:32
Please add this!
Posted on:26 Feb 2013 19:02
I agree. The application that I work on uses very large data sets and while we have created custom views for the grid fixing the first few columns would be absolutely fantastic.
Posted on:21 Feb 2013 16:42
Critical features required for long grids. Any data based application require such basic functionality. This feature can keep you in competition.
Posted on:21 Feb 2013 15:37
This would be a major feature that would allow us to move our system to MVC! Huge business need as some of our grids are extra wide and the first column gives context to the data on the far right.
Posted on:21 Feb 2013 08:11
@Brandon Satrom - any update on this critical feature? 9 month ago you wrote that "This is on our radar" - any plans to put it on Kando's roadmap anytime soon?
Posted on:21 Feb 2013 06:05
Posted on:22 Jan 2013 14:20
Please implement the Frozen columns and frozen table headers on the Kendo Grid component. Thanks!
Posted on:09 Jan 2013 14:50
This is something you can't ignore when working with grids and it's really useful with long grids.
Posted on:02 Jan 2013 17:52
Critical Feature one that we used in the Infragistics controls for many years.
Posted on:21 Dec 2012 18:57
Think about something as simple as your first column being your "commands" column. If, due to the amount of columns in a row, I am forced to scroll to the left to see a specific column, I must scroll all the way back to the first column to click 'edit', etc.
Posted on:21 Dec 2012 18:52
Would definitely like to see this feature added (soon)
Posted on:17 Dec 2012 03:56
Thanks. We delivered an application having two grids inorder to achieve this.We are badly in need of this for our future project :).Yo guys saved us.:)
Thanks a ton!!!
Posted on:16 Dec 2012 12:20
Thankyou, this is important to us.
Posted on:15 Dec 2012 11:08
Admin, good to hear that now it is considered as priority after 6 months when i posted the request.
Posted on:15 Dec 2012 08:58
This feature is must needed as in real word we have n nos of columns .. the way we have n nos of rows as header row is header for rows but we need Frozen columns columns which will act as headers for scrollable columns
you can have look at http://jlynch7.github.com/SlickGrid/examples/example-frozen-columns.html
Posted on:07 Dec 2012 20:14
The web-based software we develop is used every day by multi-million+ companies, nearly all of whom are used to using Excel on a daily basis for data discovery and analysis. This is their benchmark and we look to Kendo UI to help us meet this benchmark. Without this functionality, we are leaving our customers consistently frustrated as they use our data grids. We've considered the option of developing our own due to the lack of support but would rather invest in Kendo UI for this required functionality.
Posted on:07 Dec 2012 17:08
It would be much easier for me to sell Kendo UI to my organization if this feature would supported!
Posted on:29 Nov 2012 00:09
Same here: the organization that want us to implement a grid is llooking for that feature as a must. Is the only think in which Kendo doesn't convince them.
Posted on:20 Nov 2012 16:34
Posted on:16 Nov 2012 16:27
Frozen columns is a very important feature. It is needed in applications with large source-tables. Many users just want to fix the first 2 or 3 columns, to remember the key data of the current row.
Posted on:15 Nov 2012 22:42
I believe it will be hard for them to implement this feature because they use a single table for rendering... They will have to start cloning parts of the table (header, footer, some columns) just to be able to support it... or change it to render as div elements... That's why it is not started and they've answered that they are not considering it for their grid... Well, it makes their grid much less capable than the competition, and also prevents its use in serious, data-driven apps. :-(
Posted on:12 Nov 2012 19:51
Very important feature
Posted on:06 Nov 2012 07:14
1.FREEZE A PARTICULAR COLUMN IN THE GRID.
2.AVOID DEFAULT COMBO BOX IN TEXT BOX.
3.ACTIVE ROWS AND ACTIVE COLUMNS.
Posted on:06 Nov 2012 06:22
This feature is a requirement, I have to choose another grid because of the lack of this feature, please add in near future.
Posted on:19 Oct 2012 20:29
Another vote for being able to freeze columns -- it allows very wide datasets to be rendered in a limited space, and is a key feature most jQuery plugins or server-side controls currently lack.
Posted on:19 Oct 2012 17:23
A must have feature for any grids with horizontal scroll.
Posted on:18 Oct 2012 15:01
This is a very important feature for our company. Any update on when it will be released?
Posted on:16 Oct 2012 16:16
Posted on:08 Oct 2012 08:28
many other MVC Grids are already able to do this....
Posted on:05 Oct 2012 17:23
Here's your competition:
http://trirand.com/blog/jqgrid/jqgrid.html - freezing and multiple header rows
http://wijmo.com/demo/explore/?widget=Grid&sample=Bands - Multiple header rows.
Now that we're doing serious grid display your grid falls well short. I do like most of your controls.
Posted on:01 Oct 2012 15:50
Posted on:20 Sep 2012 04:03
Is any date for this to be available? This is really a big thing when choosing!
Posted on:20 Sep 2012 00:16
Please do this, it's a very important feature to be able to do this!
Posted on:12 Sep 2012 14:28
please do add the ability to freeze column(s). We are using KendoUI for a medical registry and require it. If 'flexibility' of freeze-column designation is problemmatic, 80% of our requirements would be met if you simply allowed freezing 'left XX' cols...
Posted on:19 Aug 2012 23:59
This feature is required, without it Kendo's grid is just like many others, nothing so special. MS Excel has had column freezing for over a decade. This should have been in the design before you even began coding.
Posted on:15 Aug 2012 09:57
this function decide to my choice
Posted on:26 Jul 2012 22:14
This feature would be a match winner for business apps. The Telerik Ajax RadGrid offers this functionality, as does the Silverlight RadGridView. If you want Kendo to compete in this space I would suggest that these type of features should be given more weight. I would find it easier to persuade colleagues to move to Kendo from these other technologies. Also, I think that other enterprise dev teams ignore HTML5 apps when they see standard functionality missing.
Posted on:08 May 2012 16:50
This is on our radar, but hasn't yet landed on the roadmap due to other priorities, including several highly-sought-after requests here on the site. We are planning some additional enhancements to the Grid for Q2, but we don't have a timeline for this feature at this time.
Posted on:07 May 2012 14:12
We are using Kendo Grid and are looking for Frozen and column reordering feature in Kendo Grid. Do you have any update on this feature?
