Now freeze columns are fine, but how to print the complete content now. The approach given for print in Kendo documentation is not working for grids that have frozen columns. as its seems to get overlapped.

Pinning columns to the right is not supported by the grid widget, they can only be fixed on the left-side of its table.

Using this if data in the unfrozen parts wraps in the cell - then the alignment of the frozen items is broken....
this is unfortunate because it makes this feature unusable.

What makes the kendo grid to split into 2 part if atleast 1 column is locked. One part is a div with locked columns and other part a grid with non- locked columns. I am able to freeze but effect is appearing like this. Even for Kendo sample code when tried in our solution. Please send a work sample and a download of it

Sorting - yes, it should not affect the frozen column functionality.
Nested grids/hierarchy - not sure how you expect frozen columns to work in this scenario, as their concept is to operate in a flat grid. Can you point us to examples for web grids with frozen columns support and how they handle hierarchy?

Our users have come to expect a grid in data driven app to have interactions similar to Excel. In grids with a large number of columns it becomes important to "freeze" key columns so users can retain the context for the rows of data they are viewing. I know grids aren't the move glamorous widget in the world but they are necessary and implementing this feature would make developers' lives much easier and users much happier.

Any news on this one? It is time for Q2 roadmap and there isn't anything about this feature.
625 votes is high, so this one should be already done. Many many grids have this feature. I would like to use KendoUI almost everywhere in my project, but right now I must use another grid because of this feature. Look at datatables, wijmo.
Could You please put this feature on roadmap?

Considering the amazing functionality available in the grid control, I find it amazing, if not baffling, that frozen columns aren't supported out-of-the-box. I would gladly exchange 2-3 other rarely used features in the grid just to have this. It is extremely, *extremely* frustrating that this isn't implemented.
I spent 2 weeks evaluating this grid and actually spent the money on it only to discover that something *this basic* isn't implemented, and not only that, but the best answer we can get is "maybe perhaps sometimes in the far, far future, if we feel like it, thanks!"
Our application deals with large data sets with many columns and horizontal scrolling is now basically unusable, which makes a kendo grid unusable when columns can't fit on the screen.
At this point I'm going to recommend my team switch to Wijmo. They might not have master-detail pages implemented, but they do have frozen columns.
It just baffles me this isn't implemented. It's like watching a demo for an amazing automobile that gets 100 mpg and costs $10,000 but one on which the designers decided not to put doors on or a windshield.
Basics first, guys, basics first.

It's great that you're trying to incorporate numerous JavaScript frameworks, php, JSP, and several other others to entice as many developers as you can to use KendoUI. Think about something as simple as your first column being your "commands" column. If, due to the amount of columns in a row, I am forced to scroll to the left to see a specific column, I must scroll all the way back to the first column to click 'edit', etc.

The web-based software we develop is used every day by multi-million+ companies, nearly all of whom are used to using Excel on a daily basis for data discovery and analysis. This is their benchmark and we look to Kendo UI to help us meet this benchmark. Without this functionality, we are leaving our customers consistently frustrated as they use our data grids. We've considered the option of developing our own due to the lack of support but would rather invest in Kendo UI for this required functionality.

Frozen columns is a very important feature. It is needed in applications with large source-tables. Many users just want to fix the first 2 or 3 columns, to remember the key data of the current row.
Felipe
Posted on:15 Nov 2012 22:42
I believe it will be hard for them to implement this feature because they use a single table for rendering... They will have to start cloning parts of the table (header, footer, some columns) just to be able to support it... or change it to render as div elements... That's why it is not started and they've answered that they are not considering it for their grid... Well, it makes their grid much less capable than the competition, and also prevents its use in serious, data-driven apps. :-(

This feature would be a match winner for business apps. The Telerik Ajax RadGrid offers this functionality, as does the Silverlight RadGridView. If you want Kendo to compete in this space I would suggest that these type of features should be given more weight. I would find it easier to persuade colleagues to move to Kendo from these other technologies. Also, I think that other enterprise dev teams ignore HTML5 apps when they see standard functionality missing.
