Support Twain-Direct

As we now have support for Webcams with RadWebcam-Control how about supporting Twain? But not the old version, instead the platform independent newer Twain-Direct. There is already C# Source Code under MIT-License available: https://github.com/twain/twain-direct. I think this could be used in Xamarin and WinForms, even ASP.NET also...

Integration with TWAIN would be a very useful feature for web controls (ASP.NET) also! Something like Dynamsoft, but with an user interface. And, of course, much more affordable...

Users need to scan directly from web application, not to make so many steps: scan from computer, save locally, then file upload to web application. They need a button, scan, and save. Files to go directly to application database.

Hello Phill,

Thanks for your feedback.

Can you confirm if you need such control in the Telerik UI WPF suite as you have mentioned ASP.NET? Here is link to our ASP.NET Ajax Feedback portal.

I wholeheartedly agree with the need for TWAIN.  My customers currently have to scan to the desktop and then upload their files.  It would be great if they could just access their scanner from within my asp.net program and upload directly to the database or file system.

Hello,

I have an immediate need to a document scanning feature to a WPF application.  For the initial prototype, I will be using  an Epson WorkForce ES-50.

A simplified version of the work-flow.

  1. A data processing clerk receives a paper document for an individual.
  2. That individual’s record is retried .
  3. Go to the Documents tab
    1. Click Scan a New Document.
    2. This initializes the communications with the scanner.
    3. Click Scan and scanning starts.
    4. Preview the results on the screen.
      1. Scan again? Yes scan again
      2. Accept Scan – categorize document type and store in database or on a network drive.

Well, it should support duplex scanning, Automated Document Feed (ADF) scanning, scanning from scanner glass, cropping of the region of interest, exporting of the image. These are the main features. In combination with radImageEditor and PDFProcessing a hole lot more features are thinkable...

For a UI sample just look at the pictures from Microsoft Scanner App for Windows 10: ms-windows-store://pdp/?ProductId=9wzdncrfj3pv

Hope this helps...

Hello Mi,

Would you find it possible to provide more details on your requirement - what you imagine the UI of the control to look like and what functionality you would expect for it to have? Providing some images or any other resources would definitely be of help.

We would then assess the complexity of the implementation and consider introducing it in future releases.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation on the matter.
