SharpDX no longer supported in .NET Core 3
The WPF .NET Core 3 packages reference assemblies from SharpDX project. For one, these assemblies only work with .NET Framework 4.x. In addition, the project will not be developed further and there will not be a version compatible with .NET Core 3.x or later versions. I consider this as a serious bug and Telerik should think about removing the SharpDX assemblies and swapping it for another. Even if my project compiles without errors, you always have the warning signs on the dependencies.

Hello Heiko,

Currently, the SharpDX version we are using with .NET Core is 2.5. We will update the dlls to the latest available version of SharpDX which is 4.0 (the last available version) and it supports .NET Core. As for the github repository ownership, indeed this is a good idea, however at this point we don't have plans to invest resources in the ShaprDX further development.

Hello Martin,

thank you for your response. How can you update the SharpDX version if maintenance stopped in 03/2019? Maybe it is a good idea to talk to the owner of the github repository and take over development at Telerik side.

Regards
Heiko

Hello Heiko,

Thank you for the feedback.

Currently, we are working on updating the SharpDX version so it can be used with .NET Core 3. The latest SharpDX assemblies are not compiled under .NET Core 3, but they are compatible with it.

At this point we don't have plans on removing the SharpDX library from the suite because it is hardly coupled with a few major features like the RadWebCam control and the 2D chart's fast rendering. However, if you have any ideas about SharpDX alternatives please share those with us, so we can take them into account if at a moment in time we need to replace the framework.

Martin Ivanov
