Multiselection selects more items when ItemsSource is changed.
Select item,  populate the control with new items and do multiple selection with shift key. The selected items are with one more.

The XAML team has recently reviewed this issue and will not be addressing it as at this time the team is focusing on the bugs impacting the highest number of developers.
