Hi all,
Using the new SubGroupsFilter (available with R2 2017), you will be able to filter the subgroups you want to hide and achieve hierarchical look. For more details please check the following article:

The feature is not planned yet and we cannot commit any specific time frame for the implementation.
However, what we could suggest you is to check the following sample examples from our SDK Repository that demonstrate how a similar to the desired functionality could be achieved:

This is the first thing I tried with this control. Multiple locations with their own distinct rooms.

It is very important to us to be able to group resources as well.

It is important for us to make final user able to group nested resources hierarchically.
