In Q1 2014 RadZipLibrary has been redesigned and the newly introduced ZipArchive class supports protection. More information is available in the documentation of the control: http://www.telerik.com/help/wpf/radziplibrary-protect-ziparchive.html.

Any update on when this might be released?  I see it is Approved.  Does that mean it is due in a near update or ....?

Additionally, there is AES encryption which would be great.

The Zip Library has all of the features we are looking for except support for passwords.  If added we would definately use this control in our application.
