Indeed, as you had also figured out, the Editor's placeholder cannot be dynamically modified and a related error appears in the console upon trying to do so:
The reason why the Editor's placeholder cannot be changed dynamically is that the placeholder is created by a custom plugin, which is evaluated only one time on component initialization. For this purpose, the error message leads to the appropriate documentation page on our website:
I hope this sheds some light on the matter. I will mark the status of this bug report as "Declined" due to the behavior not being a bug in the Editor.
