Datevalidation

We face some issue with the with keyboard inputs. The current behavior is that the kendo tries to help us the dates right. For example if you have entered the 28th of February and you start to type another new date which should be the 31.12.2019 for example, after typing the first "3" the is immediately jumping to the month after hitting the first number because there is no date in February which has two digits on a day and starts with a "3". So it tries to get the dates right but the user maybe wants to replace the whole date and just want to continue writing the date.

We need a functionality that the not validate the date the way he does it right now, overtake the validation, like turn it off or anything like that?

Hi all,

The feature is now implemented and the date segments are now automatically corrected if the date is invalid. For more details please check the following article:

Hi Morten,

This is still in the works, and regarding the timeline, it would be expected in our Q3 August release.

This is still kidding our users. This date validation is really a huge issue. We have sooo many support tickets showing up regarding this. We have told customers to be patient, since Kendo is working this.

We cannot let customers wait for fix.

Any idea if there is a solution in near future?

Hi Dan,

Yes, there is a GitHub issue in our public repository:

https://github.com/telerik/kendo-angular/issues/879

There is a proposal on how to address the issue, but it needs validation by our teams before implementation can begin, and that might take some time. Feel free to subscribe to the above issue for further updates, and this thread will also be updated.

Thank you for the update, Yanmario.  Is there a link to a Github issue or other thread where we can follow the progress of the bug preventing this feature from being released?  All updates are appreciated!

Thanks,

Dan

Hi everyone,

Currently, a bug is stopping us from releasing the feature and our team is waiting to be fixed as it is in one of our common packages that other Kendo libraries use.

Our team will update the thread when the feature is available. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

R3 2023 is released. Does that mean that it is fixed?

Hi Krishna,

Just a heads up, there's a tiny delay in the future's arrival. Our team stumbled upon a minor hiccup during the implementation of a specific behavior and it will take some additional time for the implementation. We'll keep you posted on the thread once the future is released.

We work in a healthcare app, and this is also an issue for use with the patient dob and when searching for medical data by date.

we have also encountered the same bug and ended up using a different library fot our date pickers.

really wish Kendo would fix this bug as we do healthcare software and changing the dob for a patient without notifying the user is unacceptable.

The current behavior is that the kendo tries to help us the dates right

What design principle you follow Kendo?! Not respecting the user input is a good design?

This continues to be an issue.  We are currently using the Date Mask hack that was provided on the Kendo forums. (ASP.NET MVC DatePicker Component Create Masked DatePickers | Telerik UI for ASP.NET MVC) years ago.  However, each time we have a DatePicker-related question, I am always told that I need to update to using the DateInput feature.  However, due to the "bug" that auto-corrects an invalid date, we are unable to upgrade.  This is a HUGE inconvenience and needs to be resolved (and it appears from searching the internet that we're not the only ones that concur.)

How much longer is a fix going to be ignored?

The end-users of our web-application are completely dissatisfied with this bug (yes I consider it a bug, not a feature request).

I our scenario very often the user has to edit the date input from end of month X to end of month X+1. Using european date format (dd/mm/yyyy) and keyboard input this always causes errors.

Let's say I have to change 28/02/2022 to 31/03/2022, this is impossible to do correctly with keyboard input. Same problem holds with all the other "shorter" months (i.e. 30/04/2022 to 31/05/2022 etc).

I'd rather prefer a validation error than an incorrect date. Would it be possible to disable the autocorrection or even better reset the month segment when needed if a valid day is typed?

I hope that this request will be addressed soon. The issue has been opened  for 3 years now.
