Virtualization support for AutoComplete, MultiSelect and DropDownList controls

It takes lot of time for rending thousands of records from client side, some times browse gets crashed, causes performance issue. Virtualization support will help us to overcome this issue, as the same provided in Angular 1.x and Kendo MVC controls. Can you please provide virtualization support for Autocomplete & Multi Select controls.

The DropDowns virtualization was released in the 4.1.0 official release a couple of days ago alongside our September official release:

It has been one month since the last version and we are also one month behind the announcement that "The DropDowns virtualization feature is in its final stages of development, and we expect to be able to release it in the development channel in the next 1-2 weeks, hopefully by the end of the next week", meaning that I have been looking for an announcement every day for over 2 weeks now.

Am I missing something?

Is there any update on this?

The virtualization will be available for all components from the DropDowns package - AutoComplete, ComboBox, DropDownList, and MultiSelect. We will update this thread accordingly once it is available, but you can also check the Change Log in our documentation site where the new feature will be listed:

Will this new dropdown virtualization be implemented inside of the combobox as well? Since the combobox leverages the dropdowns internally? Will you note when it is in the dev branch, or should we just continuously check for a new [virtualization] after pulling down the most recent dev branches?

We also have been waiting eagerly for this feature since last year and need it for production as well. Is it possible to get an updated estimate of when it can be completed since it has not been included in the June 21 release?

OK, it seems as if these dropdowns with virtualization have been a work in progress since summer of last year, 2018. Is it possible to get an estimate of when it can be completed? This is causing production issues and there may be a need to find some other solution if this is not completed soon...

The DropDowns virtualization has not been released yet, but we are doing our best to release it as soon as possible, and the Change Log section of the DropDowns documentation will be updated immediately when the feature hits the development version of the package:

Hello Team,

I'm trying to check whether we have any virtualization feature for Auto Complete for Angular 5. While i was browsing i got this page so wanted to follow up with this.

Is there any update on the Virtualization? If so can you please provide us some example stuff.

Otherwise, Is there any chance to check and work Other than virtualization (Until we get this feature)?

What i noticed when working on this data loading was, if i have some 5000 records, when i go with the same data in kendo Grid, it was fetching the data most probably by 3 seconds. But the same data if i fetch with Autocomplete it's not popping the drop down immediately. It's waiting until complete data loaded into it and then getting the drop down.

Is there a way that if it reaches certain number of records starts showing it?

Please ping me if you have any outputs on it.

Indeed, the feature was initially planned for the May release, but its implementation proved to require more time, so we decided to delay it a bit in favor of more comprehensive and thorough testing. Including it in the release notes was a mistake on our end that we fixed and apologize for:

The latest available information about the actual release date of the DropDowns virtualization feature is already shared in my previous post - we are working on it, and are targeting the end of May/start of June.

According to the release notes (R2 2019) this features was added, but I cannot find it anywhere in the demo's/documentation.

The latest estimate I can share is soon after the official release. scheduled for May 16th. The virtual scrolling functionality is in advanced stages of development, and if everything goes according to plan, should be available by the end of the month, or in the beginning of June.

We are working on an enterprise level system which needs to cater large amount of data size. We plan to roll-out the system shortly so it's highly appreciated to put this ticket in higher priority.

Google Material folks created a nice CDK called Scrolling which is library agnostic and I believe could help augment/facilitate this request for virtual scrolling on AutoComplete, MultiSelect, and DropDownList Controls.

Without virtualization on DropDownList component, i'm faced with two choice:

- use the kendo jquery dropdown, which is a non sense (and a bad practice) to manipulate the DOM with Angular2+

- or use a dropdown component from another Angular framework

I was changing the datasource based on whatever user was typing. 
But then I updated the control and now it is checking the selected items against the datasource. 
Please, make it optional to resolve the tag items when datasource changes!

Our clients work with the very different amount of data. Whereas the majority of them see only 10-100 options, some of them have thousands of records. Unfortunately, opening a DropDown with 2000-3000 options makes the page unresponsive or crashes the browser.

We especially interested in this feature for 
- ComboBox
- MultiSelect

However, I presume that it would be great to have the same in all types of Kendo UI for Angular DropDowns.

The DropDownList component does not support virtualization.
It could be usefull if in the next version this feature is implemented.
