preserve group state (expanded/collapsed) when sorting (all clientside)

Hi, is there a way to configure the grid so that when it's grouped and later sorted, the grouping state (expanded/collapsed) is preserved?

Kind Regards

Erwin

Hi Anton,

I'd say that preserving the groups should be the default behaviour. IMHO most people do not expect that the grid loses the group states when they sort by a column. Also, the windows forms grid from Telerik does keep the group states in this situation.

Therefore a feature request would be appropriate.

I had a look at some of the examples on preserving the grouping but at the moment I'm reluctant to implement a workaround as I would have to hook into the sorting etc with a lot of potential problems and an additional burden to re-test / potentially adjust with every future Telerik release.

Kind Rebards

Erwin

Hi Erwin,

Thank you for the video and the details provided.

There is no built-in approach, but if you like - I can open a Feature Request on your behalf in our public portal. The most voted items are considered for implementation.

In the meantime, I would recommend trying the approach from the following article:

Here is a dojo example:

Give a try to the approach above and let me know if it achieves the desired result.
