BusyIndicator: [WinUI] TargetInvocationException occurs randomly when running on Windows

It seems the issue happens randomly -> crashes on a Windows 19 Server while running a basic Windows Maui app.

Good news.

Microsoft said that the bug appears in computers without

GPU or in outed GPU.

Our customers will you the hot fix you provided till you implements this feature.

Hi Hanoch,

There is now an official version of SkiaSharp that includes a fix for the bug you encountered. We will update and build our source code against this version. If no issues arise during testing, our next official release - scheduled for November - will include this version of SkiaSharp.

In the meantime, you can simply add an explicit reference to the SkiaSharp NuGet package in your .csproj file:

<PackageReference Include="SkiaSharp.Views.Maui.Controls" Version="3.119.1" />

This should resolve the issue on your end until our next release.

Does the bug is fixed ?

Any estimation when it will be fixed, our customers ask ?

One month passed from the time the bug opened.

When the bug fixed:

I cant download the fixed as dlls and replace it in my publish folder with old one from the link you provided.

Hello Dani,

There isn't a new SkiaSharp version. So when new version is available you have to update the packages on your side.

Here is the current Skia NuGet version from nuget.org: https://www.nuget.org/packages/SkiaSharp.Views.Maui.Controls/ 3.199.0 - Last updated 4 months ago.

Hi Didi,

These the control panel  of window 10,11,ans server 2025.

1.If we install the workaround VC 2015-2025 x86 or x64 is override VC 2015-2019 x86 or x64.

Our customers do not allow to change their operating systems.

2. In addition our product is distributed through WSUS to many stations in target company

and we can't harm their computers.

3.In addition is become harder to create MSI with this workaround prerequisite (require restart.....).

4.So please when the new Skia version is released, update the Telerik controls  with new Skia dependency version.

Hi Didi,

The workaround is not a good soultion.

Good solution will be you update the fixed skia version

In your telerik new version and customer do not need to install this workaround.

My solution must be fast because your customers can't

Use telerik version 11.0.0 and 11.0.1

Hi Didi,

I have a Maui product in version 11.0.1 to deliver to our customer.

We distributed the app through WSUS to many stations in computers.

 

1.Is this bug is also for windows 10,11 , server 2019,2022, 2025 ?

2.When Skia will fixed the problem, you will deliver a new version with new skia version?

3.If 2 is yes, does if i install the workaround in customer computer and later you will deliver a new version with fixed of skia

and i install the new version of Telerik in customer instead of old one.

Can i leave the workaround in customer computer or i  must to uninstall it ?

4. When this critical bug will be fixed ?

The team further research the issue and actually you have to install this version to solve the crash in Skia Sharp: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170#latest-microsoft-visual-c-redistributable-version


The exception will be fixed in future Skia Sharp version where such additional installation won't be required.

The behavior start occurring when Telerik MAUI controls were updated to SkiaSharp 3.116.1 in Telerik Maui 11.0.0 version. 

Workaround: Downgrade to Telerik MAUI 10.1.0
