Provide a way to migrate the WPF app to .NET MAUI

Progress Telerik WPF over the past 2.5/3 years has done a great job in introducing very useful UI concepts in WPF and we've embraced them in our development and our users find them useful. As .NET MAUI is generating greater gravity and interest, the technology remains at a significant distance because of the big feature-parity gap between MAUI and WPF. This is not a complaint as much as it is a notice; as we aren't a UI component authoring technology company new UI component development is not our focus.  I am sure that you guys understand this and I am aware of the difference in design notions given the MAUI and WPF presentation and interactions goals; nonetheless, for ISVs like us, we have to choose the best, most stable, and cost-effective technologies and push the envelope as best as we can manage. So, love the excitement around MAUI but unless there is a way forward whereby one can migrate UI concepts from WPF to MAUI we can wait for MAUI to mature.

Hello Tavi,

My name is Yoan Krumov and I am the product manager responsible for our UI for .NET MAUI and Xamarin products.

Thank you for your feedback. Indeed, there is a feature-parity gap between MAUI and WPF and this is normal since WPF is 16 years old framework and the general availability of .NET MAUI is expected in the upcoming months. The Microsoft .NET MAUI team is constantly improving the platform, releasing new versions of the framework full of lots of goodies every month. I believe they will continue these efforts in the future as well, thus lowering the gap.

On our side, we have the same strategy. We are following the Microsoft releases so you can use Telerik UI for .NET MAUI with the latest features of the framework and while we are working to have a feature-parity with the UI for Xamarin suite, we are developing the desktop version of our MAUI components with the guidelines for desktop applications.

I will be more than happy to learn more about your scenario. If you would like to share more details about it, please let me know and I will contact you privately. You are also welcome to request any functionalities or components you might need on our public portal.

Regards,
Yoan
