We have received feedback from our user group indicating a need for keyboard-based selection for items that are not in sequential order. Currently, keyboard selection functionality only allows users to select items in a continuous sequence. For example, when using Ctrl+Click, all items in between are automatically selected.
Is supporting non-sequential item selection via keyboard something you plan to implement? If not, could you suggest the best approach or alternative solutions to address this requirement?
Hi, Pernilla,
The KendoReact MultiSelect component currently supports keyboard navigation and sequential selection, but it does not provide built-in support for non-sequential item selection using only the keyboard (such as holding Ctrl and pressing Space to select arbitrary items without including items in between). Mouse-based selection of non-sequential items is possible (using Ctrl+Click), but this behavior is not available for keyboard-only interactions.
I explored a workaround by using different events, but it didn’t achieve the desired outcome, currently we don’t have another solution to recommend. While currently we don't have any plans for implementing non-sequential item selection I have converted this item to an official feature request and added your vote for convenience.
Please let me know in case further questions arise on this matter.
Regards,
Filip
