XHTML Validator not working - document cannot be checked.

The XHTML validator in the editor control is not working.

As per attached screenshot, when you click it and opens the window it simply states the following.

"Sorry! This document cannot be checked."

"Sorry, this type of URL scheme (undefined) is not supported by this service. Please check that you entered the URL correctly"

Can someone tell me why this is happening? It's also broken on the editor demos on your site. Maybe something on the W3C validator has changed making it no longer compatible/viable?

Hi Alan,

Please accept my sincere apologies! You are absolutely correct and after debugging the error "Wrong xmlns attribute for element html. The value should be: http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml", I found and fixed the problem in the source code. Now the XHTML Validator works as expected with the RadEditor content and provides correct results,e.g.

Unfortunately, once again since it is a server-side fix in the source of the dialog, I cannot provide a quick fix or a workaround and you would need to wait for the next major release R2 2023, due in June. Your Telerik points for finding the new issue were updated too.

I also created a separate issue for the new error to subscribe and follow its status: Wrong xmlns attribute for element html error in the XHTMLValidator dialog.

Best Regards,
Rumen

Hi,

I am not sure that this is fixed? We've updated our version of telerik, but on ours and on the telerik demos it still doesn't seem to work quite right? See below.

Whether the editor has content, or has no content, the validator always gives the same errors as per the attached screenshot.

Hi Alan,

The change is server-side and there isn't a way to override it. This means that an upgrade is required to obtain the fix.

Hi Rumen,

Thanks for your feedback.

Is there a way of fixing this issue within our existing version, without having to upgrade once the next version is released?
