Properties/licenses.licx re-populates

Twice this week, my Asp.net project would not compile because of a Telerik.Web.UI.dll link error. I run into this problem frequently, Telerik is very flakey. My last bug report was this compile problem with another Telerik file.

The solution to both compile problems is to clear the Properties/licenses.licx file. As least the second time, I knew right where to go without wasting time searching the web. A couple hours wasted on the first one on Monday.  I suppose I can expect to clear it Friday again when the compile fails on Telerik.

The Properties/licenses.licx is re-populating itself causing the compile to fail on this Telerik issue. Why have a licenses.licx if it always breaks the software? Your support says, clear the file - they know it causes endless problems.

There is no fix on my side for the this problem, Telerik must do something about the licenses.licx problem in an update.

I have these Telerik compiler warnings. The entire list is Telerik created, misleading and annoying.

Hi everyone,

The https://www.telerik.com/support/kb/aspnet-ajax/details/how-to-fix-license-file-related-errors has been updated with the following new solution that was proven by customers to successfully clear the licenses.licx file before compilation:

***New***
Alternative solution based on a third-party NuGet project to ensure that the license file is cleared before compiling the application:

The EmptyLicensesLicx is a NuGet Package to ensure the empty license.licx is present and working in Visual Studio.

For details of why the error occurs see the readme on the GitHub project. The developer behind the project does a wonderful job of breaking down the problem and solution
***New***

I am also declining this bug report since no further information was provided for the error and it is not reproducible in our test environment. The case can be reopened at any time if new information gets provided.

Rumen

Hi George,

Thank you for your valuable feedback!

I checked our records and so far you are the only customer to experience these warnings in Visual Studio. To be frank I am personally unable to reproduce the warnings on any of our test machines and my laptop and desktop. It might be very useful If you can provide a project or configuration steps to replicate the issue on our side so that we can research it.

In the meantime, since this could be a bug in VS 2017, can you please download, install and test with Visual Studio 2019 and see whether this issue is fixed in it?

Another thing that may affect these warnings is if your Visual Studio 2017 is configured to have a detailed build output verbosity, which may lead to the reported warnings:

Change the setting and retest.

You can search for more info and advices for the error in Google too - https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1CHBD_enBG873BG873&sxsrf=ALeKk02z2LJCZqqAb-MA1VXMethEFAlsOw%3A1587056483084&ei=Y4-YXraQBNTergTTxAI&q=Analyzer+assembly+depends+on+%27%27+but+it+was+not+found.+Analyzers+may+not+run+correctly+unless+the+missing+assembly+is+added+as+an+analyzer+reference+as+well.&oq=Analyzer+assembly+depends+on+%27%27+but+it+was+not+found.+Analyzers+may+not+run+correctly+unless+the+missing+assembly+is+added+as+an+analyzer+reference+as+well.&gs_lcp=CgZwc3ktYWIQAzIECAAQRzIECAAQRzIECAAQRzIECAAQRzIECAAQRzIECAAQRzIECAAQRzIECAAQR0oJCBcSBTEyLTEwSggIGBIEMTItMlDUPFj3bWDPeGgAcAJ4AIABAIgBAJIBAJgBAqABAaoBB2d3cy13aXo&sclient=psy-ab&ved=0ahUKEwj2zaWPtu3oAhVUr4sKHVOiAAAQ4dUDCAw&uact=5
