ADD: API to modify the Notification Icons on the client
For the time being this is possible with some jQuery by having the desired image URLs. A simple example is attached.

I agree with the above comments, having this option certainly makes life that much easier and efficient.

This would be a really useful addition as it would have having to create a notification control for each icon type.
