Export with named cells that include a dot "." throws error

Tested on demo-page. The export of an Excel-file containing defined names with a period such as "test.name" will result in an error.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create an Excel-file that has a defined name like "test.name"
  2. Open the file on the demo page
  3. Click on any of the "Save as..." buttons
  4. An error page is shown

Hello Heiko,

As that is the first time we encounter this limitation, it is not mentioned anywhere in the documentation. We will include it in the following days, most probably in this section. Thank you for bringing this up!

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Martin

Thanks for the answer. Could you please show me where this is mentioned in the documentation? At least this behavior should not lead to the application crashing completely. Apart from that, this is not Excel-compatible behavior.

Hello Heiko,

Thank you for the additional information.

Currently setting a named range that includes a dot is not supported in the Spreadsheet and should be considered as a limitation.

Let me know if you have any further questions on the matter.

Martin

Hello Martin,

sorry, I guess I didn't put it correctly. It is not the filename that produces the error, but a named cell inside the excel sheet, that's why I attached a screenshot in my first post. So, create an excel-file, click inside a cell, give this cell a name with a dot like "test.name". Then save the file under any name and repeat the test on the demo page.

Regards
Heiko

Hello Heiko,

Thank you for the screenshots.

Unfortunately I was unable to reproduce the error on the linked demo. Here are the steps I made:

1. I created a new xlsx file named test.name.

2. I imported it in the server import/export demo.

3. I clicked the Save as XLSX button.

Following the above steps, no error was thrown on my side.

Could you please let me know if I missed something?

Looking forward to your reply.

Regards,
Martin
