Chat: Provide a built-in option to exchange images

The  Conversational UI is a nice control , but it is limited. The Following will make life easier for the developer .

 

1) A Custom Template that can allow the user add buttons and customize the send button , like whatsup does, it has "Voice Note" , "Image Attachments" etc..

2) Also allow the user to be able to add images on the chat control itself.

Hi Vuyiswa,

I have approved the feature request about sending images inside the Chat control (updated the title as well). 

Currently, you could implement such an option using the provided API - you could create a custom Chat item containing the information about the images and through ItemTemplateSelector apply different templates to the chat items including the option to send files and display images.

2.  Could you elaborate more on this requirement? Where you'd need to add images? 
On the Conversation UI there users can chat meaning sending Text as the example attached . i want a user to send images like we did on whatsup and display them on the chat window

Hello Vuyiswa,

Thank you for your feedback regarding Conversation UI.

I will go straight to the feature suggestions:

1. This could be currently achieved by overriding the ControlTemplate of the Chat component. We are working on a way to share the ControlTemplates for our controls, because Visual Studio does not provide a way to extract them. In the meantime, I have attached a sample app containing the ControlTemplate to this thread, so you could try to customize it per your requirements. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns on this.

2.  Could you elaborate more on this requirement? Where you'd need to add images?
