Add Rich Text Editor component
In Xamarin Forms there is a serious need for a Rich Text Editor control that would allow you to do this such as highlight text, apply fonts, styles etc. I think a tool like this is in great demand among Xamarin developers. Currently there are some Open source controls that have implemented these features however they have not been maintained and cannot be relied on for enterprise solutions

Hello,

We're gathering use cases and scenarios where a rich text editor would be beneficial. In this regard, can you elaborate more on the scenario you have and what features you consider most important?

As to the concrete question  - I cannot commit to a specific timeframe for providing a rich editor control, still, we definitely have it in mind for the future releases of our Xamarin suite.

Yana

We have a workforce management solution that includes a basic employee-to-employee messaging feature.  The main website is using a Kendo Editor (JQuery-based) to compose "rich" messages (HTML fragments in the body).  We're adding an employee self-service mobile app now, using Xamarin Forms, that will also include the messaging feature.  So we need to be able to compose and read these same messages.

Right now, the option we're considering is using something like a jQuery Rich Text Editor displayed in a web view, as suggested here:

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/54070344/how-to-create-a-rich-text-box-with-or-without-web-view-in-xamarin-forms

https://xamarinhelp.com/xamarin-forms-webview-executing-javascript/

Far from ideal.  We'd certainly rather have a Telerik control to accomplish this.

Yana, a rich text editor is something that is already part of a major in-house application that allows users to display HTML content, images, tables, and advanced formatting. This is the application that's planned for a major rewrite. It's important for our users to continue having that ability.

Hello Bruce,

Thank you for sending your input on this.

I am afraid that rich text editor is currently not in our immediate plans, still, we're gathering customers' feedback on such kind of a control. Could you elaborate more on the scenarios whether a rich text editor would be useful? Which features you'd consider as most important?

This is an odd oversight. As our company also requires the use of this control and buying multiple control suites is out of the question. My preference would be to go with Telerik but this would be out of my hands if there is no RichTextBox control.

Yes, the same like one available from SyncFusion: https://www.syncfusion.com/xamarin-ui-controls/xamarin-richtexteditor
Please give us a rich text editor control like that. Thank you.

We would love to have this component!
Atm, we have a project that is on hold until we can find a working htlm/rich text editor :(
