Copied Test replaces original test in schedule

I have a number of tests scheduled to run every night.

I Selected one of the scheduled tests and made a clone from it, wich i also renamed.  The cloned version was edited, half of the test cases was removed.

For the comming scheduled tests my original test with correct name is listed. When i analyzing the result it shows that only the test cases remaining in the new cloned version has been running. So for some reason it seems that wrong testlist has been choosen.

Hi,

The cloning and renaming was done entirely within Test Studio using the function "Add as a copy of the currently selected testlist(s)". When the Test list was selected and the function used a new test list ready to be renamed occures.

I renamed the test list and started to modify it. The following nights when the test list was executed the results showed that it was the wrong Test list, the new modified and renamed list even though it was the old one stated in the schedule scheme.

Deleted the cloned list and after that the correct Test list is executed according to schedule.

Hi Björn,

Thank you for reaching out and for the detailed description. I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing this unexpected behavior with your scheduled tests.

To help us better understand the root cause, I’d like to clarify one important detail:

How was the test cloned and renamed?
Was this done directly within the Test Studio UI, or was it performed via the File Explorer?
If the cloning or renaming was done outside of Test Studio (for example, directly in the file system), the test file name would change, but the internal test ID would remain the same. In such cases, the scheduler may treat the original test and the cloned test as the same test, which could explain why only the reduced set of test cases ran during execution, even though the original test name appeared in the schedule.

If the cloning and renaming were done entirely within Test Studio and the issue still occurs, then we’ll need to investigate further.

In that case, I kindly ask you to open a support ticket and attach the affected tests. This will allow us to examine the configuration in detail while ensuring that any potentially sensitive information remains protected.

Please let us know how the test was cloned, and we’ll be happy to guide you through the next steps. If you need any further assistance in the meantime, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Regards,
Stoyan
