Hello Pam,

We have implemented some improvements related to the Step Details pane and these are mostly related to the passed steps in an executed test. When we initially introduced the changes in question, this pane appeared in the same manner also for the passed steps and showed the images upon recording and execution. We understand that not everyone might be interested in seeing the Step Details for each step especially when it is passed, so we made this option turned off by default and added a toggle button to show the pane if needed.

As to the Step Details for a failing step the pane remains the same as it contains useful information for identifying what caused the failure and debugging it. Once you select any other step from the test - any from the passed or these which were not executed, the Step Failure Details pane is no longer visible and lets you interact freely with the rest of the steps and the other panes in the Test Studio project.

I hope that these additional details help you find what additional changes we applied to address this topic. Thank you for your understanding in advance.

Regards,
Elena

I don't know if I see any difference.  I am using 2023.1.329.1.  Is there now an option to hide the panel or set it so that it is always the size I want it to be?  It still takes up half my screen every time a test fails the first time I run a test. I only care about the first 3 lines and would prefer that to be the default size, rather than fully open.

I agree.  I'm a new user but find it extremely annoying that it constantly pops up when I click on a step that I want to edit.  Half the time the step is covered by this panel and then I have to resize it.  It takes up way too much real estate. I rarely use it and i have to resize it every time I do a run.

Some of the 'UX improvements' may be helpful for novice users, but I'm been using Test Studio for over 6 years and these changes and not something I need or want. Please allow users to turn OFF such 'enhancements'.

Thanks.
