Ability to Edit Markdown Files within a project

I think it would be neat to be able to view / edit markdown files within a project within the Test Studio application. Being able to see a markdown file in the project list, and have them open in a editor tab so you can review / make edits.

For example I create markdown files that have high level summary's of what each test completes, or potential helpful debugging information on a particular test.

Hello Devin,

I am glad that you see benefits in the Test properties and comment steps and you can adjust to using them for your project.

We appreciate your feedback and additional details about the scenario you have and how editing external files in Test Studio can help you.

Thank you for your understanding.

Thanks Plamen,

You are correct, I was hoping to see the markdown files in the project explorer and be able to open them in the editor to make changes. I can do this in other editors already, I was just thinking it would be handy if I did not have to switch programs for it.

Between the properties pane that you suggested and adding comments to the test its self I can get pretty close. the Markdown file would just be nice for putting information together on how individual tests are broken up. with a markdown file I could have a detailed table of contents so to speak outlining each test from a single place. With just the test description and in test comments you have to click into each test to get the information. I can still do this outside of the normal test studio program.

Thanks again for the suggestions, I at least have something for documenting things within the tests :)

Hello Devin,

Thank you for sharing your feedback with you. I would like to better understand use case and also suggest something that we already have and you might find useful.

The Project explorer in Test Studio shows only test files and code behind files that we expect to open and make changes to. This makes the project pane easier to navigate and find the right test or code file.

I understand that you are using markdown files to add notes, description and additional information to the tests. Currently we have a Description field for each test, that you can use for this purpose. You can see it in the Properties pane, along with other useful test properties.

To be frank here, I don't think this feature will be implemented in the near future, as we currently do not plan to add such files in the project structure. I am sorry for the caused inconvenience.
